Thinking About Buying a Fusion

First of all I'm not selling/trading in the truck so its safe to take off your flame suits.

Well, long story short, I have a 2002 Cadillac Seville SLS (bought new in 2001) that's seems to be on its last leg. I just replaced the ignition and starter motor, before that it was the water and fuel pumps, leaking moonroof, leaking trunk, etc. Now it keeps stalling out during normal driving. I've just about had it.

I really don't like the idea of going from a Cadillac to a Ford (no offense, and I love my truck but still). I just can't afford a new Caddy and the repair cost on this one is getting way out of control.

The last time it was in the shop, the rental I had was a 2008 Malibu. I really, really liked the car, but I'm open to giving Ford a chance too.

So I am looking at the Fusion. Seems like a nice car, looking at the SEL model in particular, V6 as I don't mess with a wimpy I4. I also really like the new light blue color Ford is offering on the 2008's.

I really want to buy a Mustang, but since I let my mom drive the car she says she wants to be able to have 3 or 4 people in the car on occasion.

So, what are your thoughts on a new Fusion? I plan on going for a test drive some time this week.

Thanks,
Chris

I had one as a rental and it was nice. 4-banger. but it still had some good pick-up.

24mpg vs 30+ ??? at least give the 4 banger a test drive.

Ford Fusion is a nice car, but I'd get the Lincoln version of it, the Lincoln MKZ... now that I think has more bells and whisels then the Cadillac

Good move, dude. The Fusion gives the Accord a run for the money. Sporty ride and easily modified. Go for it. - Og

I too rented one. It was a 4 banger though. I like the fusions. Good cars. I think they look nice, and you can mod them too. I would get a black one, maybe black wheels. Or some classy chrome wheels. I would either go with a blacked out look. or a luxury look. I was looking to get one a while back.

The Fusion is the best sedan Ford has built in a long, long time.

I like it too. Very nice car. My lady has the new 2008 Ford Focus with sync and its nice. I really think Ford is trying to move in the right direction.

Fusion would be a great choice. Probably a step down from a Cadillac, but its in the right direction.

heck yeh, go for it. a black awd v6 fusion is one of the only cars i would trade my truck for right now. tinted taillights would take care of the tails if you think theyre ugly.

Nice feeling interior and very sharp lookin'.

An MKZ or the Fusion GT (if it happens) would be sweet too.

don't forget about the Millan, a step up from the fusion, but in my opinion the MKZ is hands down the top choice for me. I had a MKZ for a rental for one day, i did not want to return it, best car by far i have ever been in and driven!

I've had several Fusion's as rental cars and have always been impressed with them. I co-worker of mine just bought a new Malibu, and I thought it was a very nice vehicle as well -- especially considering I usually don't like GM vehicles.

I think the Malibu interior is slightly nicer than the Fusion's, but they're pretty close. The Fusion's dash layout is more straightforward, while the Malibu's has got a little more flair to it -- it all depends what you like.

Either car would be a good choice.......
