As an owner of a Fusion, I say go for it. I actually have the I4 with the 5 speed, and its plenty powerful for me. I regularly drive through the rocky mountains and I don't need to drop down into 4th at all to get through. The 2009's are coming with a 6 speed manual and a few more horses in the I4 version.

Its been a great car and I highly recommend it. Oh... and spend the extra cash for the sync option, its well worth it.

I believe it is actually a 6 speed automatic, dual clutch IIRC.

But yeah, the 2009 fusion and MKZ will be getting a nice facelift.

We picked up a 06' Fusion SEL V6 with 30,000 miles for $14,500 out the door for my cousins new college ride.

Very nice car, based on the Mazda6 flatform, so it felt very sporty for a mid-sized sedan. The leather interior was decent as well, and a lot of bang for the buck.

My Mom's got the Fusion SEL with the V6 and I love the car as does she. I think if I needed a four door car, a Fusion would be my choice. It's a great car and I've never heard any negatives about the car.

Hmmmm... the v-6's still come with the 6 speed auto, but according to fordvehicles.com the 2009's still have the 5 speed auto and 5 speed manual, but they do get the extra 10 hp. The buzz on the fusion forum I go to occasionally was saying there was a true 6 speed manual in the works.

I would like to see a Fusion GT with a turbo charged 4 cyl. AWD. My brother had a Mazda 626 turbo that was faster light to light than almost anything around. We use to go race vettes, stangs, u name it. That car was fast but WOW the torque steer was horrible back then.

I'd like to see the Fusion GT to be a V6 with a supercharger. Now that'd be awesome !!

Well with the high gas prices The Ford Fusion is one options I was looing at. If your going to get one the V6 would be the only way to go and my other option I was thinking about would be a Mustang GT. Since gas prices are starting to go down I plan on keeping the truck for now.

Thanks,

I am currently driving a Malibu rental also. Business trip. So far, I like it much more than than the Camry, or the Accord... I have never driven a Fusion, but I definitely give a to the Malibu. I love my truck, but do not, nor will I ever become a Ford *****. Bought my wife a new Expy in 03, and one day, I will make her buy a Limited Edge. Rented one, and loved it. Don't be a homer, and buy the Fusion. If you like the Malibu, Do it

My one experience with a fusion (milan) was crap. incredibly rough idle, slow, flimsy interior. It wasnt brand new, it was a salesman's personal car. had the 4 cylinder. the fusion is probably good.

If youre interested in coming to the dark side, check out the altima. I will say no more on account of being flamed. PM me if youre interested in hearing more. We've had 2.

i was set on buying an 08 fusion SEL V6 until i drove the malibu. not really close. the fusion is a great car but the malibu is sportier and a better looking car. they need to drop the 3.5 in it like the lincoln has. that was the reason we didnt stay a ford family and became a mixedbreed one. the wife has an 08 malibu LTZ she loves and i have my 150.. either way not a bad decision but ford is lacking in power and fun with the fusion/milan...
