Money

How the hell does everyone pay for all this stuff on your truck? Do you have the money to spare...or do you put it on credit cards? I'm almost afraid to dump 2g's into the suspension incase my fridge or washer quits. You know?! I'm sure as I get older, I will make more money and all will pan out.
Right now my truck payment/insurance, bike payment, and mortgage take up one whole paycheck!

You're on the right path bro.

Some folks make more money than others, some folks prioritize some things over others.

My wife is a doctor bringing in plenty of income for the two of us, plus me working as well. She drives a 2000 Camry with about 165,000 miles and my 2000 F-150 (stock as a rock) does me just fine.

Dont get me wrong, I see plenty of things on this website I would love to do to my truck or own (can you say King Ranch Diesel F-250?) but its all about what priorities you have in your life. Right now finding a house in a great neighborhood and having kids is ours.

You have a good head on your shoulders, and one of the best screen names EVER!

Hope this helps!

x2 if you can afford to mod your truck without putting yourself in a bind do it if you are going to over extend yourself on credit dont, JMHO keeping yourself on the straight and narrow now will pay off in spades later

I don't have any payments for vehicles or toys. I would sooner drive an older truck and have the extra money that I save from the payments to mod it the way I like. When I work I also make $500 a day, so that helps too...

Everyone has a different situation. I am assuming most of the guys around here with the newer F150's are making pretty good money. Most of the 4x4 F150's are at least $30k or more.

I know that once I settle down with someone and split paying rent/mortgage, utility bills, etc., I will have a hell of a lot more money to play with. Living by your self costs a lot of money!

I won $8000 in Atlantic City a couple of years ago. So I paid cash for my lift.

Now I'm just socking some cash away here and there for other mods.

My company pays me 58.5-cents per mile when I travel for business. My work truck is a '97 Ford Ranger that has been paid-off for many years. Any mileage money I receive gets banked until I have enough cash to buy "toys" and/or "things for my toys". Using this method over the years I have banked enough money to pay cash for my "05 F-150, my '08 Mustang GT, and all of the modifications I have done to both vehicles.

Now that I have my Mustang I'm trying to figure out what to do with my mileage money from here on out -- a lot of that will depend on how long my Ranger continues to be a reliable everyday vehicle. If the Ranger starts to fade, I'll use my accumulated mileage money to buy its replacement. If the Ranger continues to be solid, I'll probably use the money for another "toy".

Stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed for another "toy"......

That's what really sucks. I only had 1 year left to pay on my Jeep when it got stolen. I should have just bought something reasonable and started modding it then. But...I looked at my Lariat on a cold fall day and my butt fell in love with the heated seats.

Well, I guess I'll just baby step. I'm putting my AS and AAL on this weekend. I do need to get new tires before winter...so I may just get some 305/65/r18 AT's and be practical. I figure I can set aside $25/week and get a 6" and bigger tires down the road. I can always use the ATs as a winter rim/tire setup because I live in the rust belt.

I think I'm just scared because my girlfriend is going to be moving in with her 2yr old...and I don't want to deny them of anything they may need. "Sorry kid, can't turn the heat up bast 65 because I needed 4.56's."

Ahhhh- getting older and responsible sucks.

Yes it does.

Glad to hear you have your priorities straight though.

Where's the baby's daddy and what is he contributing to heating bills for his child?

He pays $115/week in child support. Which helps... But, daycare is expensive as hell and he has a relative who could watch her son for free. However, they are not willing to follow his schedule that he is already on. So legally, I don't think she can increase his child support because he can provide a sitter.

From an old guy: Live below your means and life is easier. Try to get where you are not living from paycheck to paycheck. Have a little money saved for the "rainy day." JMO

Glad to see your girlfriend is responsible enough to put her child's schedule ahead of what is easier and/or convenient for her.

Naps and a consistent schedule are incredibly important for kids at that age, and to be honest, most parents these days simply put themselves first by carting kids all over town when in reality they should be home getting their rest!

I was lucky. My wife was able to go part time.
He only goes to daycare 6 times a month now.
