As mentioned, everyone is in a different situation. Some make real good money, some don't and have to save for quite a while to get anything nice for their truck. Some have jobs but still live with mom and dad and basically have no bills, and some just have everything given to them.

If using your cash to buy mods to your truck will put you in a financial bind if, like you say, your washer, etc, craps out on you, then don't do it. Priorities.

You may not have the "coolest" truck on the block, but at least you have your own home

I live by the motto:
"I may be out of date, but I'm out of debt"

It's amazing how much money you have just laying around when all of your paychecks are disposable income.

Of course, it wasn't easy getting here... I spent two tours in Iraq, and another year and a half TDY living on Ramen noodles, but it was all worth it.

I'm 17...living with the parents. Truck was given to me, but by no means does that mean I treat it like crap. I have a job at the local Fast Food joint making $6.89/hr and I pay my own insurance, my own gas, and everything thats ever gone on my truck was paid for...by ME! (Except the billet grille, christmas present) I've got an insurance bill coming in friday. Paycheck comes in Friday. 1/2 goes to insurance, and the other half goes to gas just to make it to work again

Sucks, I rarely have anything more than ~$15 pocket change for movies or dinner, but hey, I try to save. I'm currently taking flight lessons, at $200/hr they're not easy. I take my time and save, and by no means will a credit card come into my financial statement

On my days off I work overtime & make anywhere from $38.00 for the 1st 8 Hours then it's time & 1/2 at $57.00 an hour. Certain jobs working overtime on weekends & holidays or between 4PM-7AM weekdays, my hourly rate starts @ $50.00 an hour, & after 8 hours it's 1 1/2 @ $75.00 an hour. It helps me out with the mods........Which I'm pretty much done with for now! I've got her just how I want her for the time being!............
