Budweiser Sell out
Well, Smokey, one of the problems is this---for years, people drank Bud because that was all they ever knew, and they thought it was a "good" beer. Suddenly, the world market opens up at our doorstep, and people are exposed to other beers, and they can contrast the difference to the "taste" of Bud (not that there is one.
)
Competition---Bud will continue to sell its stuff, and I guess people will continue to buy it; it will continue to make money---but I guess they didn't really take steps to compete---and to win--on the global market.

I don't think anyone at AB gave a crap about the town of Latrobe, PA when they shut that down after buying RR. Plenty of American workers have lost there jobs at the hands of US companies.
I fail to see the difference here.
What a crock... AB bought out many smaller brewers and shut them down just to get the label. What goes around comes around... it's business.

Business is business and I don't have a problem with one company buying out another, MY problem is that American business leaders have nothing more in mind that greed and thier OWN bottom line. They would sell pictures of thier grandmothers naked if it netted them a dollar. None of them seem to care that is it weakening America. We are becoming a nation of morons that can't think past 10 minutes in the future. I guess I was born a couple of generations too late for my own taste.
EDIT- SmokeyBear pretty much summed up my thoughts there.
I agree. I drank BugLight not only because I do enjoy it but it was a U.S. company with huge plants right down the road from me in Houston. Looks like its Shiner time

How is this "weakening" America? I think this gives micro brews a better chance to expand and grow since all the good 'ol boys want an "American" beer. Now our SMB community can florish. When one companies dies there are plenty of others to pick up the slack and fill those jobs.
Great Lakes Brewery here in beautiful Cleveburg has phenominal beer--I would also like to think that people have become more educated on what constitutes a "good beer."
I like to brew my own beer; when i cannot,I try to patronize the smaller, more dilligent and concsientious breweries.

We have a place down the road that helps you brew the stuff right there---great selection---everything from something heavier than Guiness to a Corona and a Bud. Once I tased those brews, there was really no going back to the other stuff. Around Christmas time we brew w Dunkelbock---recently we brewed a summertime favorite---a Czech Pilsner.
Great beers--great taste.

The nations of morons is due to the horrific lack of parenting going on in this country, NOT due to our business leaders.
