Interesting list. Takes into account manufacturing, parts, etc.

Wow... only two vehicles on that list worth a damn. The 'fiddy and Silverado. The rest is crap. Explorer might do in a pinch but too small on the inside. No wonder the the auto industry is in trouble in North America!

They leave out Canadian numbers for GM pickups which would have put it up there. There is a better site somewhere of vehicles and domestic content, F-150 bieng #1 and by far.

They don't factor in where the profits go (ie import car = export profits ie Toyota = Japan benefits) or the benefits to workers. Factor those parts in (ie what actually helps America most) and there wouldn't be a single Toyota or Honda on the list.

Here we go!

I love it when this argument comes out. "Ohhhh the profits!!!" Where do those profits go?! Into senior management's and investors pockets. As an American, but freakin' stock in Honda and Toyota and guess what?!!! Those profits benefit Americans!!!!

It's called a "Global Economy" people. Its been around for 20+ years, get used to it!!

Yup.. and I love that hi tech solid rear axle. That is inexcusable today in a front wheel drive car. Ford had independant rear suspension in the 1981 escort. Chev does almost everything on the cheap.

So the thousands of American workers in the Texas and Indiana Toyota plants don't get any benefits? They don't spend their salaries in the US?

Sure they do, point is a company with workers HERE and headquarters HERE will do more for the economy than Toyota who just has a couple thousand workers here. I in no way see how this is complicated to understand yet many of you cant seem to put the pieces together.

So you think America is on an even playing field in this "Global Economy" you speak of? With all the rules and regulations surrounding manufacturing in the U.S. you honestly think we stand a chance to compete for manufacturing jobs against countrys like Mexico & China?

My pieces went together fine. You are missing a few. A pubicly traded company with thousands of employees and shareholders in America benefits America. Simple.

Yes Toyota in Japan benefits as well but that is not a problem.

(this is for Dzervit too)

Thanks for thinking you have understand how a global economy works, but let me show you where you went wrong here

Do you know how many people Ford employs in America? Do you know what their average pay is? (And Ford is smaller than GM, who employees even more)

Do you know what kind of benefits Ford and GM workers get?

Now compare that to Toyota.

JUST on legacy costs alone Ford and GM are spending FIVE TIMES AS MUCH AS TOYOTA OR HONDA on their workers.

Oh dang.

Thanks for playing!
