f150 or titan
I could post a mirror of Wookies post. I also have a friend with a white loaded Titan. They don't drive it much as it will eat gas worse than a F-350 V10. They've had the brakes completely replaced- rotors, pads, calipers, etc. The rear axle has been replaced twice in the 22,000 miles they have put on it. It's for sale and has been for the last 8 months but so far they can't even get a phone call for someone to look at it. If you bought a new one you'd be buying into a truck destine to be replaced with a Dodge variant. Parts may become an issue later on and there won't be any resale value- at all. The Titan is the Yugo of trucks, I'd avoid it regardless of how good of a deal you can get.
As far as side by side comparisons go, I'll tell you, just what I told a Co-Worker who parks his Datsun right next to my F-150 SuperCrew every day!
1. Look at the size of my rear axle, compared to your wimpy Datsun!
2. Look at the size of my Rear Leaf springs compared to your wimpy Datsun!
3. Look at the size of your peanut oil filter, compared to my F-150's!
4. Look at the overall built quality of your Datsun compared to my F-150!
5. Look, in a year or two, you will be drivin a truck that Datsun does not
even make anymore!.......................

The Datsun brand was discontinued in March 1986. Why do you and those above keep using the Datsun brand to belittle the truck. Also, whats up with all these size comparisons... is size all that matters

because if it is , the titan has a 5.6l compared to my ford 5.4l
look, i like the ford better. but i would have taken the titan if it was free
the datsun name was discontinued. Datsun was a name made for the American market by nissan. They didn't think the name nissan would sell at the time. datsun is an insult. so?
I shouldn't even join this discussion. I like my Titan, for what I need a truck for. I rarely ever load up the bed to its max payload, or tow 11,000 lbs. I don't need a truck to do that. What I do need a truck to do is be reasonably safe, and haul 7500 lbs here and there when I want to take my toy hauler out.

I had F-150's (3 of them to be exact) and they were GREAT trucks capability wise, but were severely lacking in the powertrain department. With Ford's 5.4L blowing spark plugs out of the heads, cam phaser issues, and other things, when the time came for a truck I had a choice. This time I was buying used.
I looked at several F-150's as my first choice. I looked at a 5.3L Silverado which was only a hair quicker than the F-150 and didn't feel much quicker or as well built as the F-series. Then I drove a Titan, and I went "Whoa." It sounds good with the Flowmaster exhaust (my Magnaflow on the F-150 was always too quiet), hauls ***, and looks halfway decent. I did a little more research and ended up with a 2006 Crew Cab 4x2 Titan.
Is it better than an F-150? I would say not (when talking about frame strength, tow capacity and things like that). Is it still a capable, well built body on frame truck? Yes. Will it do everything I need it to do? Sure will. Will it look different than the thousands of F-150's in my area? Yes.
All in all, I loved every F-150 I had and am STILL a true Ford fan through and through. I was just disappointed with the lack of power, and poor fuel economy (my Titan gets better mileage lifted on 35's than any of my stock F-150's ever did). This is precisely the reason I said as soon as Ford comes out with a diesel half ton, I'll be back in a Ford (more than likely). My dream truck is a crew cab F-150, diesel, in Lariat trim. Black on black.
And when you're talking about sales numbers, you can't possibly say things like:
Why not? Because Ford says "Look how many F-series we sold." Sure, the numbers look skewed when you compare it that way. Is the current-gen Titan a dying breed? Yes. But you gotta admit, when breaking into the full-size truck market that's been dominated by the domestics for so long, Nissan did a damn fine job. Look at the first-gen Tundra, that thing was a laughing stock.
Hey, it could be worse. It could be an ugly *** Tundra.

A friend of mine has a titan and he has had lots of problems with it. Broken rear end, front brake problems, broken sway bar mounts, and lots of exhaust leaks.
There is no doubt that it hauls *** but if you want a truck to work for you, haul and load and last a real long time doing it with a min. amount of problems, get the Ford.
I am not a big Ford fan at all. I like Toyotas, but when it comes to half ton trucks (I don't know anything about 3/4-1ton) Ford makes the best damn truck out there. I wouldn't purchase anything else.
Yes, the Ford is going to be slower but you get so much more in return.
2001 5.4 supercrew with 123k miles with ZERO issues. Nothing but tires, brake pads, fluids, filters, wipers and one set of plugs. No blown out plugs yet and if it happens, oh well, I will get the timesert kit and fix it.
Right now I am going over the truck changing out fluids and some front steering wear parts to get it ready for the next 100k miles.
I really am blown away at how well this truck is performing.
I will say though that in my experience dealer customer service sucks the big one at Ford and I have been to several different dealers. It is also no different at jeep/chrysler in my experience. The service I get at the Toyota dealerships is 10 times better. Toyota dealers are also not nearly as critical when it comes to covering something under warranty. I would never buy a toyota tundra though.

The Ford, while being bad ***, is the overbuilt "fat" one. So wouldn't that make Ford = Rosie O'Donnell?
Ah, no! With some decent rims/tires and getting rid of that sh*t looking/ sounding(80's Volvo) tailpipe for a good exhaust, it brings it up to maybe Chelsea Clinton stats.
BLASPHEMY!!!!! You should be drawn and quartered for putting an equal sign between Ford and anything relating to Rosie O'Dip****. The closest thing you can compare Rosie O'Dingleberry and Ford to is the Edsel. Both are EPIC FAILURES.
