My friend and I went out on some ATV/Dirt Bike trails on our 29er's... I was able to go right through mud pits 1/2 way on the wheel hub. Basically I did some swamping along with some serious rooted trails. It's totally amazing how these bikes can do what 26ers would fail to be able to do.

It was awesome flying through the mud... I also stopped right in the middle of a mud pit that was about 1/2 up on the hub, and I powered right through it when I started peddling.
