2008 Sable Question

Ok, this may be a stupid question....My wifes new Sable is telling me it is ready for its first oil change. I'm going to change it soon. I need to know how to reset the computer after I change it so that it will quit warning me that its time to change the oil. I already looked in the owners manual and cant find it in there. If you guys cant help me I'll have to call the dealer and ask, then I'll have to listen to them tell me why I should just pay them to change the oil. i don't want to listen to that BS. My F150 doesn't tell me when its time to change oil, I tell it...so I'm not used to this fancy stuff. Help me

I just asked my wife how she resets her 07 Mariner and she said that she hits the set buttom on the front dash under the radio until the Oil Change comes up, then she holds set down. Not sure if it's the same but you can try it.

Considering it is the first oil change, I'd have the dealer do it. Ford has a gorilla named Bubba that installs all of their factory oil filters. Usually it takes something just short of a hot wrench to get the factory original off. I'd let the dealer be the first to deal with getting it off and while you're there, find out how to reset the system. The dealer can also take a look around for any warranty items. Business is slow at the dealers and most have their service people looking for warranty work.

With the door closed and key on, hit the status button on the steering wheel until it says "Press reset for system check." Hit reset, the oil life should be the first or second thing displayed, press reset once and release it, then press and hold it until it reads 100%.

Thanks

Thanks. That was really simple. I guess I would have figured it out if I had jumped in there and played with the buttons long enough. I was just guessing it was much more complicated than that.

I remember reprogramming my F150 so the seatbelt alarm would not chime. i think I had to shut the door, turn the key 10 times, turn on the flashers, honk the horn seven times, buckle the belt 88 times, unbuckle the belt 87 times, lower the tailgate twice, then turn key off. You know, what I mean! hehe

Any way the Sable is a really cool car, but my wife never lets me drive it. She says I hot-rod it! That new V6 is just awesome !!! Theres something about a luxury car that will just smoKe the tires that brings the kid out in me.

Thanks,
