Last hope crashed today...there were no survivors...

So today my low fuel light comes on and I pull into my local Murphy's USA (Wal-Mart) gas station where I get $0.03 off a gallon with my shopping card. Well once I sit for 10 mins to get in my usual "corral" (pump 11) I notice that they put in one of those fuel injector cleaner things where it puts FI cleaner into the gas as your pumping it. I immediately get a frown on my face as last time I had experience with these things my friend hit "NO" when it asked if I wanted it and it put it in anyway. Got $11.25 of gas out of $20. What a ripoff. Well apart from that, they also put stickers next to the buttons that declare

"ALL GAS NOW CONTAINS 10% ETHANOL"

It had like little round green bubbles coming out of a car (a poor attempt to cartoon-ize exhaust gases) and has a quote caption saying: "We've gone greener!" and "Less air pollutants" crap. Ughhh...

I was happy that Murphy's not only have me $0.03 of a gallon, but it was the only station in town that didn't have ethanol. Now it's all over. Good-bye 20 mpg, hello 17 again (pre-K&N days with 300 lb topper).

The stickers were no more than hours old as I pulled in that morning and they weren't there. Also noticed a different branded fuel truck delivering his goods as I began pumping. I swear, just when you think it couldnt get any worse....

You pumped gas when the fuel truck was delivering gas? Always thought that was a no-no.

Ehh...I was on my way to meeting someone for lunch. Once wont kill it, but if I can wait I usually do.

Question though, since one whole gallon isnt all $4.05/gal gasoline, why isnt it like $3.98/gal? That 10% ethanol isnt the same price as 87, so why is it the same price? I think they are further ripping us off!

You're complaining about 10% ethanol?

I've used 10% ethanol in my truck since the day I bought it. I went out to Maryland for a few weeks and used 100% gas and saw no increase in gas mileage. To think you will loose 3mpg because of a little corn is ridiculous.

You need to learn to pick your battles, and learn how to write a good rant.

no kiddin.

He would see the MPG loss in a total e85 fillup, not 10%, not as significant at least. He has to be related to manual.

Most gasoline sold in the US contains up to 10% ethonol. I think that it has for quite some time. The stickers are just something new/more prominent either due to some lableing legislation or an attempt to make the station look "greener".
