Texas
Or at least that's how I understood my aunt & uncle who are looking to buy a house in Orange.
In SoCal though; I do not own a house or property and sales tax is only 7.75%
wrong... I wish there was no sales tax
but then again I don't live in texas anymore so I don't care.. and I don't plan on going back to that dump even if they take away sales tax

See... you have grown up in houston.. cypress... (I went to cy-springs) that is all you know. After seeing how Houston has changed over the past 10 years, I want to get as far away from it as I can... Look at the freaking crime rates then compare it to somewhere else in the US. I am not saying that other major cities don't have higher crime rates or anything, I am just saying that -for me- getting out of there was the best thing I could do. I used to live in a really nice neighborhood and people would have stuff stolen out of their garages if they left them open and went inside, houses broken into... Since I have moved up here to oklahoma I don't have to worry about locking the doors on my house, leaving garage open while being inside or having my house robbed while I am at work. I am not saying that it doesnt happen.. you just don't hear about that kind of stuff up here. Someday you will see what I am talking about buckles..

tulsa and houston's crime rates are actually about the same if you look them up.. (extremely close) however, I don't live in tulsa. I live outside of tulsa in Owasso which is basically a suburb to it where the crime rates are half of tulsa. However I am not going to argue technicalities.. just the fact that for me.. getting out of houston was a good choice due to my experiences with living there, compared to my experience with living here.

I'll let someone else dig up that thread......
This is just my thoughts only and other people may feel different about it. When I did move though I was afraid of the change, and after realizing it was a change for the better, I value the experience that much more.
Who cares what the crime rates are! If you make good money you live in a good part of town regardless of what city it is. Dallas kicks ***. And I have lived in Chicago, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, Miami, Orlando, and of course Dallas. Other than Dallas the only place I like better is South Florida. But its so damn expensive down there so I justr go there 4 times a year.
what do you mean Texas is considered the pits of the US??? Texas is a great state! a ghetto is a ghetto no matter where you are, so it must have been the place you werein, not the whole state.
I've been to 4 places in Texas for vacations while living in houston. San Antonio, Dallas, Lubbock (go raiders!) and Austin. I was not impressed with any of them except for austin.
