Looking for a new handgun..
How many rounds do you think you have put threw it so far, an has anything ever broken on it?
As for the money, OTD it was 5 something so right in your rangeLast edited by CRF250rider1000; Jun 15, 2008 at 10:32 PM.
I am a huge Glock fan. I own a model 23 and a model 34 and carry a model 23 on duty. The midsize model 23's and 19's are my favorite sizes. Load that 19 with some 115 grain +P hollowpoints and you will be set.
I am sure wandell can tell you more about the reliability of the pistols since he has a lot more experience than me.

I am still breaking it in at 300rds, but go through and read about Glocks and you'll get the idea

I am sad that I don't have more rounds through it, but being 19 sucks! I went to the range the first time and they turned me away. They told me I could only shoot a rifle without proper supervision. I was so mad! It was the damn NRA range for cripes sakes! It is my Dad's but I go to the range with him and shoot it. I also go with one of my friends that has a CCW. I guess being legally allowed to openly carry it around VA doesn't allow me to shoot and train with it. Kind of pointless.

Well that makes about zero sense!! I had that problem when i was a kid too, my dad had to be there with me an he had never even shot a gun before! With the price of the glock, an the reviews I've been reading on the internet an the advice you gave me. I think I'll go get my background check so i can have it by next weekend (7-8 day wait on hanguns where i live)

Oh yea a background check is preformed on the spot here
That really sucks that you have to wait though :/Well boys I need to get to bed I have work from 7-4 tomorrow, which means waking up at 6am. I hope my posts helped you out on choosing your next handgun. I'll check this thread tomorrow night and see how it went.

I too am a Glock Man. I have the 17, 19, 21, and 26. The 21 is the "Granddaddy" being a .45 cal. I love the 17 - I bought it back in the day when they came with two 19 round mags. Then I bought the "Plus Two" adaptors which allow two more rounds. They would especially good with the Model 26 - my pinky would tend to fall off without it. The wife carries the 19 - she sometimes out shoots me! I keep the 21 by the bed........
To the OP - go with what is better for you. I'd highly recommend a Glock, but take a ride down to a gun shop and take a look and feel!

Is there something that I missed about Glocks? Almost everybody I talk to loves the Glock. I have friends that own them/shoot em/carry them, and love them. I too have fired a Glock in 9, 40 and 45 put a decent amount of rounde through them, and I guess I never caught the bug. Didn't not seem different or special.
Ruger makes very good guns, 9mm in the P89, and P95 and can get them both in the $400-$450 range. The P89 is a pretty old design, but I have a friend who has one with about 4000 rounds through it with zero problems.
Also My brother just bought an XD 9, you could keep it in the family thats an awesome gun too!

I own an 9mm XD Sub-Compact. (3in). It's a good fit for me in the hands, and it a great shooter. The only complaint I have is that it is a bit too wide to carry IWB. I'm assuming this stems from the larger capacity. I'm looking at getting a subcompact Khar sometime in the near future as a new carry gun, and swaping the 9mm XD for a 4" .45 version for home use.

So whay such a huge following for Glocks? Because people thought if the cops are using them then they must be really great. Once that started catching on it just took off. Just like any other fad.
I'm not saying that people don't like Glocks because they have a huge following. The Ruger 10-22 is probably the most popular rimfire rifle in the world but far from the best - even in that price range you can get much more of a quality rifle than a Ruger 10-22. I will stick with the standard grip angle and steel and wood.
There is a reason why more armies and police agencies use CZ handguns than any other handgun in the world. They are high quality and very accurate firearms worth much more than what they sale for.
