Obama's Father's day wish.

Barack Obama celebrated Father's Day by calling on black fathers, who he said are "missing from too many lives and too many homes," to become active in raising their children.

Why does he have to make this a race issue? How about just saying fathers?

Maybe because it's true! I think I saw a story that his black Dad had abandoned him too as a child!..............

Actually, I don't mind him saying this. In fact, it might be the ONLY intelligent thing he has said... EVER. Fact is, the black community has a higher rate of illegitimate kids than any other group. A kid hardly has a fair chance under those circumstances. In fact he himself has broken the pattern in his own family... OH WAIT!!! OMG!! I AGREED WITH ONE THING B.H.O. HAS SAID!!! AAAARRRRRGGGGGG!!!!

I would say a fact is
The children he is talking about needs a father in their life other than the donor.
Or they wouldn't be needing a father in their life now.

True. Sad, but true. I'm promised myself and my two kids to be an exception. - Og

I agree with stealth even though it is more prevalent in the black community, it is in no small issue in the hispanic community, and is starting to be a growing problem in the white community. Will this be the tone of a obama mama presidency where black issues take precident over social issues? With our economy tanking will government programs be for all or just minorities. This is a real issue and I think obama mama is starting to show his true colors. (no pun intended)

I don't think he needs to really speak to once race of people regardless of what the statistics are. We all know the facts on this, but we have plenty of white kids out there who need a father figure as well. He wants to be the president of the United States, so starting to speak to the United States and all of its citizens as a whole would be the best option IMO

wow. No matter what he does, you'll always be on the opposite side, even when 2 posts above, you were agreeing with him.

It's all good, and I don't disagree with Obama on everything. I think that fathers not standing up and taking responsibility is a problem. I think its great he voiced his opinion on it and called for fathers to be involved. This thread though was questioning his calling out of a certain race so that is the aspect I discssed.

"...They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it," the Democratic presidential candidate said Sunday at a largely black church in his hometown...."
