The LIBS never do anything wrong

The LIBS hero "former President Clinton" cheating on his wife in the Whitehouse with an intern and apparently committing perjury in front of the nation is OK.

Funny how the LIBS think adultry and perjury are no big deal.....Yet they damn sure want to make sure it is ok for gays to be married....

IMO the LIBS are idiots in their way of thinking

Obama's description of the purchase was later confirmed by the previous owner of the house...'

If I'm adding the numbers up right....
The property was originally a single piece.
The sale was
house/lot to Obama (1.65m)
adjoining lot to Rezko (625k) [full price paid]
plus Obama got price reduction of (300k)
So, if you add up all three....(1.65 + 625 + 300) the original asking price was $2,575,000.

Now, I'm not a real estate expert but, if the asking price for the whole bundle was $2.575 million, then accepting an offer of $2.275 million does seem that out of line or shady. It's an 11% discount, and the property sat for months.

I'm I missing something? Is the contention that the previous owner was in on a dirty deal? He got 89% of his asking price and asking price isn't always appraisal or assessment.
Does anyone know the appraisal or assessment before alegations are thrown around?

As far as the 10 foot strip of land, I've seen this before. It has to do with zoning, right of way, etc... The seller always has the buyer by the short hairs on a deal like this. A $60,000 premium is normal considering two properties adjoining at $2.5 million market price.

If your next door neighbor needed to buy a ten foot strip from you, would you divide your total Sq Ft by lot appraisal, and ask that?
Of course not.

After it had been reported in 2006 that Rezko was under federal investigation for influence-peddling, Obama purchased a 10 foot (3.0 m) wide strip of Ms. Rezko's property for $104,500, $60,000 above the assessed value.[30][7] According to Chicago Sun-Times columnist, Mark Brown, "Rezko definitely did Obama a favor by selling him the 10-foot strip of land, making his own parcel less attractive for development."[34] Obama acknowledges that the exchange may have created the appearance of impropriety, and stated "I consider this a mistake on my part and I regret it."[32]

no politician apologizes for not doing something wrong they admit to something small hoping to keep people from digging to find the deeper truth.

Obama is shady and has many things about him and around him that are questionable. I am sure lots of his wrong doing will surface as the election grows closer.

I'd like to find the deeper truth.
So Obama paid $60k above and beyond and Rezko did him a favor?

If Obama had paid $80k over, would that be a bigger favor from Rezko?
Or if Obama only paid $40k over, would that be a bigger favor from Rezko?

Just tell me which because I'm really scratching my head on this.

Well, I choose to believe what and who the King Center, and the rest of the world recongnizes him as. They state his father changed his name, and that of his son circa 1934, when Martin Jr. was just a baby.

I've never heard that before.

Nevertheless, he was indeed an ordained minister. He began his career as an associate pastor and Ebeneezer Baptist church, if my memory isn't failing me.

Ministers say controversial things... A pastor came to our church one time as a guest, and ticked a lot of people off when he said Jesus wasn't born in December, but in/around September, according to some research he pointed out. Well, the rest of the world celebrates Jesus' birth on December 25th, so- his opinion didn't change anything.

In today's world, Jesus' teachings would be considered communist, according to what I've heard. That said- there are a few benefits to communism. There's less of a line between the have's and the have nots, and I for one would like it if things like medical care was state run, rather than a system that allows people with the most money to get the best care. I think everyone is entitled to the bet care when it comes to medicine.

As they did with the Kennedy Assassination, however those are sealed until 2065.

Jesse Helms was the poster born for racism and racist ideals. No wonder his attempts were considered suspect, and subsequently dismissed.

Then, you'd love MIchael Baisden, then. There is such a thing as being too radical to be a good leader... Hitler, anyone?

Well, peopel well above our paygrade made that decision based upon what they know. Which is far more than you know from reading propaganda from websites with agendas, and from what I know from history books and documentaries who may also not be privy to all the facts.

I bet you don't go to work that day though, do you?

Didn't you just describe 99.999% of the politicians running for office in America? - Og

I drive down MLK about 2-3 times a week. When I exit off of 45 and I am heading to my office off of Lamar its the quickest route. Comparing Preston to MLK in Dallas is like comparing MR. Rogers to Charles Manson

How often do you frequent MLK? Ever spent any time with the folks who live on MLK? You might be surprised. - Og

That didn't stop folks from voting for Bush in 2004, and it was revealed that his families had close ties to the Bin Laden family...

To the Bin Laden family... who had family members in the USA, who were silently wisked away (the only plane in the air during the federal grounding, aside from Air Force One, and it's fighter escort).

Well, lets not talk about that, that was 2001- we're talking about much more serious issues, such as real estate that happened in 2006, not anything linking the first family to the family of the world's now most notorious terrorist.

No I do not stop there. Occasionally I stop at a red light and I get bothered by some homeless crack heads that come up to my window and ask for free handouts. I have even been asked for a cigarette while driving down there and stopped at a light. I also see hookers walkign down the road there soemtimes. But I normally see more hookers and crackheads on Grande Ave which is a couple blocks North. I take Grand to work every morning. Its funny how you can drive down the street and see people just hanging out everywhere during the middle of the week when they should be working somewhere. And dont tell me they all have night jobs.
