I have the Baby Eagles in the semi-compact all steel versions in 9mm, 40, and 45acp. All are fabulous shooters and will rival target pistols for accuracy. I'm getting at least an inch group and smaller from all of them at 25 yds from bags. The triggers start out a little hard but work their way to real nice....better than my full blown Kimber Target 45. The downside, they are heavy for CC. I do use my 40 as my CC pistol but I'm also 6'4" and 260 lbs so it's not as heavy to me as say a smaller person, but they are heavy. I shoot handloads and my carry loads are HOT 135 gr HPs. They will go thru a denim jacket. If you are looking for more of a CC weapon, look at the Beretta 84 or the Browning BDA. They are the same pistol as Beretta makes the BDA. It is a dandy 380acp. Just because it's a 380 doesn't mean no power. My brother carrys one and he kills 500 lbs hogs with his. He's shooting 88 gr HPs at 1000'per second so they are not sleepers. Ultimately though, buy what you are comfy with, not what anybody else recommends. If you're not comfy with it you're not going to shoot well with it regardless of brand or price. And learn to load your own ammo. Prices of ammo these days are more ridiculous than gas.

Careful about carrying one of the "locked and c0cked" guns as a ccw. I have carried my Kimber Custom before but just never felt comfortable. Thousands of people carry them everyday without a problem but just something to think about.

I just saw the new add on the XD(M) Factor. Slick looking rig.

****ed and locked is absolutely not dangerous even with a series 70 1911 there is so many things that have to happen, in order, for a ****ed and locked pistol to have a a.d. If you are not comfortable carrying one that is fine, but in my experience that discomfort if from not understanding exactly how the components work together. In my previous post I mentioned my pxt hawg, I carry that in my front pants pocket ****ed and locked in a leather no-sho that I made and I have less than no-problem carrying a .45 cal hydra shok right next to my manhood

Easy sparky. I have had a boat load of 1911's throughout my pistol collecting career and I know full well how John Browning's design works. Thank you.

The reason I made the comment is that it sounds like the OP is relatively new to carrying a weapon. He may or may not feel comfortable about carrying a locked and c0cked gun as a first timer. That's all, just throwing it out there.

Try not to shoot your nuts off. j/k

I find it hard to believe that with all the talk about 45's and 1911's that nobody suggested S&W 1911, and if cost is an issue, for target look at a 22.
Just my opinion

Handguns are a very personal thing, especially if this is gonna be something you're gonna carry. My personal advice would be to find a gun shop with a range that'll let you try before you buy, rent and shoot as many as you can, and base your purchase on whatever works for you. For instance, some people just can't get past the funky grip angle and staple-gun-like trigger pull on Glocks, some people have trouble transitioning from a double action to single action trigger pull (like some Sigs, Rugers, Berettas, S&Ws, etc.), some people just ain't comfortable with a ****ed (this language filter is bull****, BTW) and locked single action (like a 1911 or Browning Hi-Power) and so on.

Buy whatever works and feel comfortable to you. I like Glocks, and I carry a Glock 19, but they aren't the answer for everyone. When you do pick something, buy lots of ammo and shoot the hell out of it, or even better, get some professional instruction/training. Get a good belt and a holster. And be safe.

Thanks for the advice. Ya I am new to carrying a handgun. I grew up with rifles and shotguns but never had a pistol. I own a Ruger M77 300 Win Mag that I can pretty much kill anything out to 300 yards with. And I have a Beretta Xcella 1 12 gauge.

I never could shoot a handgun worth a crap until i borrowed by buddies 357 S&W revolver(awesome gun BTW) and his glock .40

Now that I have learned that I can shoot a pistol pretty good I am wanting one for kicks. The CCW thing was an afterthought. My buddy asked me if I would be interested if he got a class together so I jumped on it. It's more of a thing for down the road incase the world goes to crap around here or something.

Ya I have a gun shop that I go to that has a range. I can try out all their stuff before making a purchase. Just wanted to get some ideas.

Thanks for all the advice!

Excellent thinking. What Quintin mentioned was right, shoot everything you can get your hands on and THEN make your decision.

quintin's got the right idea for you there man-
i'm carrying a springfield xd-45acp 4" compact- i shot about 25 different guns & calibers before settling for the xd- the glock was nice but felt unnatural in grip and the trigger pull was a bit goofy imo- my xd feels like an extension of my arm-
comes with a 10rd mag and a 13 rd mag- carry with the 10 and range with the 13

I really like my Taurus PT 24/7 .40 S&W. You should give them a look. They're great guns, and they're affordable.

I carry a XD 45 compact with the 10 round mag in it, I really like it.

But definitely do what Quintin said and you wont regret what you buy
