Tornado damage pics

Took a few pics of tornado damage that happened about a mile north of my house in SW Omaha at 2:30 this morning. By the time our tornado sirens went off it was over. Authorities said it was an EF-2 with winds of 111-135 mph. Luckily there were no deaths or even serious injuries. The neighborhood with the most damage was blocked off to all traffic. The first pic is of the car wash I go to. The roof was gone and you can see one of the concrete pillars knocked into the building. Pics were taken from a moving car, so sorry if the quality isn't to great.

Good to hear that everyone was OK.

An EF5 tornado (wind speeds exceeding 205 mph) hit Parkersburg, IA and the surrounding area on Memorial Day, which is about 1.5 hrs northeast of where I live. Over 238 homes and businesses were destroyed.

Here is a link to some pics from that tornado: http://picasaweb.google.com/generald...93272879008178

My Dad talked to a guy from New Hartford, which is just east of Parkersburg, who owns a trucking company. He had several bull racks sitting outside and after the tornado he went outside to find the tires and axles sitting there but the rest of the trailers were gone. He drove a several mile perimeter from his place and never did find the trailers.

They found paperwork from Parkersburg as far away as Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

That's for sure. The only damage in my neighborhood was some tree damage.

Yeah, that was a rude awakening to be sure. I'm glad everyone in that part of town is okay. I guess that storm popped out of nowhere last night.

Damn that is pretty wild man..Good to hear your safe.. We have Tornado watches all the time, but have never seen one or heard of one touching down and i don't want to see one either. I was watching TV awhile back and saw a couple in Texas that have had thier house blown to the ground like three times I just could not belive it, three times and they said they were going to rebuild it again..I know I would have been the hell out of there the 1st time..

Do you guys get a lot of tornadoes up in Nebraska? I know we have at least a couple warnings every month down here. Glad you are okay, it's eery when stuff like that hits so close to home.

I didnt even know anything happened in Omaha last night
I was up North this weekend so I wasnt really watching the South much...Im in Milford now and last week there were a few questionable nights. Hauled **** out of Seward the other night because I thought I was going to get sucked up. Walked into McDonalds under blue skies and it wasnt five minutes before it was pitch black, pouring like no other, and stong enough wind that I didnt even have to walk to the truck, it just kind of blew me over too it.

If we dont have at least 3 tornado warnings per week, it must be winter.

Glad to see everyone is ok though

This year has been nuts down here. Two Saturdays ago, I woke up at 6am with thunder, lightning, and my UPS beeping - the power was out. 5 minutes later the tornado sirens went off. I'll admit it, I was scared. I needed to know what was going on RIGHT NOW - and had no way to find out. No TV, no Internet, no battery powered radio.

I went out to buy a weather alert radio last week, and finding them in this town right now is tough. I finally found a decent one at one of the Radio Shacks in town.
