Wifes Suprise

Anyways, she stumbled upon this thing in the basement. It's a Wolf Spider.

I ended up snapping this shot at about 18 inches and my lens isn't meant for it.

Thoughts?

That's a pretty spider. When I saw the caption, I was expecting something along the lines of "my wife left me for another woman!"

We have grey wolf spiders down here that get to be about the size of your hand. Take yours and add a bunch of grey hair like a tarantula and you have an exciting discovery. They generally avoid humans but sometimes when it gets real dry they will come to water. They also get under anything on the ground and have a burrow. These down here will make you hurt yourself more than they hurt you. They can get aggressive usually by coming to you but they seldom bite. If they do bite, expect the area to hurt for about a week, but you won't die....you may want to, but it won't kill you.

Glad to see you adopted a new pet. From the sixe of that thing, it would put a watch dog to shame. Nobody will break into your house now, rest assured.

brown recluse and black widows hide out in my area. I've had friends show me what bites have done to them. I just go ahead and sqaush all of them.
We don't seem to have the larger spiders in southern Arkansas.

If My wife were to see one of those fat juicey critters in the house,
I'd either have to move or get a new wife
