to make it simple, I have a big problem with the fact that Bush used to be business partners with Bin Laden and his brother. Bush squandered their oil company dry. I DO believe that has a lot to do with whats going on. Im very curious whos pocket my fuel money is going into, especially with Cheney sitting alongside bush with his ties to Halliburton. I dont know why you think Im trashing America, because Im not. Im very glad to live here, and I feel safe. I do understand the points you are making, but I have a bad feeling about whos in charge, thats it.

Stop spouting off things you've heard someone say or heard on some news network. Do a little research on your own. The George HW Bush had ties to the Bin Ladens through a financial consulting firm; of which he met with a few times. They were never "friendly" or vacationed together or were in business together.

Go get your facts straight and realize the gas problem is due to a Democratic controlled Congress; with an approval rating of 18%, not allowing oil companies to explore options on our own soil.

But getting back to the original question.....

I'm planning to do two "major gas saving" things;

1) I'm going to start fishing a LOT closer to home, a LOT more of my 140 days a year on the water.

2) When it's the very best time of year (Spring) and I just have to be on some great Bass fishing waters, which might require a 200 or 300 mile round trip, then instead of doing 200 to 300 mile round trips, 3 days in a row (did that a lot in the past.... really like sleeping in my own bed) I'm simply going to have to start doing the camping thing more.
So then I can cut my gas use down by at least half, or even 2/3rds !
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But now gas in my little car, for around town ? I drive like a mad-man.... constant hard stop and goes... Put it this way, I make a sub-compact economy car get down to barely over 20mpg !
Why ? Because I get paid for my driving, and the harder I drive, the more money I make.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So anyway, I figure my driving type miles are about like the following;

60% for work

38% fishing (or sometimes, photography trips)

2% In town, but not for work.

This accounts for about 60K miles a year.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh, and just one passing thought....
Don't get me wrong, these gas prices just flat out SUCK ! I mean, I drive a ton, and probably make less money than most of you....
However, we really have been needing a wake up call ! I mean, say that gas was only $1 a gallon.... but they were telling us, "It won't last forever... and we really need to develop alternative technologies + try to conserve the gas that we have".....
Uhhh... Okay. How many people would pay serious attention to that ? I know I'd be just as guilty as the next guy, too !
But on the other hand, when they say, "Gas is currently $4 a gallon, and could be much higher in the near future"..... NOW how many people are listening ? Kind of an attention grabber, ain't it ?
I'm HOPING it goes to $5.00 a gallon! Let's get those 27 year old soccer mom's driving a huge 2008 GMC Yukon by themselves off the freeway doing 80 mph! Thats why our gas prices are so high. Supply and demand. The less gas they buy, the faster prices go down. Thier husbands prolly drive like a 1983 Honda hatchback and do everything their wives tell them to.
It's not related, but I also notice the reletively-young women who drive the gas-guzzling SUV's also leave the gas door and gas cap wide open after filling up. Also proves they don't check their mirrors cause one quick glance would reveal that tidbit.
Whoa there, 16 year old..
If it went to 5.00 you would b**ching about only being 16 and crying about how you only make minimum wage and how unfair the world is blah blah blah.....
Although supply and demand does have it's role in the price of gas, there are many other factors that contribute, like politics and greedy ****ers! Soccer moms have been around for awhile, it's the growing world demand for oil that has a bigger part than soccer moms.
Wow. Stop and think before talking (or typing, in this case). You're rationale for WANTING higher gas prices stems from the "soccer moms in suv's"
I can't wait until you get out on your own and realize just how hard some people work for a living. I personally hope that we don't make it to $5 / gal +, for one reason being truck drivers getting laid off. Too many family and friends have already been axed or may get axed due to rising fuel costs which means a higher cost of operation. Tires went from $800 / ea to over $1000 now as well - not looking pretty kids.
Nonetheless, it gets tiring hearing about gas this, economy that evertime you turn a corner, pick up a newspaper, etc. Just my .02
You can laugh if you want to, but my truck gets tremendous gas milage sitting in the driveway!
i would do the same if it was 60degs. outside... since the beach is 5 miles away, and weather being average 97-100 degrees with high humity, i would get to work drenched in sweat, working in a bank doesnt help ether, suits...
po1911...
Dont buy the 750. Nice bike, but no passing power. At the minimum, get an 1100
Trust me. I had an 02 750 Shadow ACE. Now I ride a Roadstar. I get about 40 mpg.
Not calling you a liar, but my 750 got about 40 mpg. It was an 02, so who knows. You can handle an 1100. I see women doing it all the time
Just razzing ya a bit, not trying to be mean spirited.
