The Fusion is an awesome car !! My Mother has the Fusion SEL 3.0 and it's an AWESOME car. I absolutely love it !! It's going to be much cheaper than the rest of the options and it gets good gas mileage. My Mother doesn't drive slow and she gets 27 mpg.

Not to mention, my Mustang gets 26 mpg on the highway not driving slow, driving 80 mph on the highway and some city driving, even with my mods. I can get 21 mpg driving hard with about 50/50 driving.
i looked at actually many fusions today. I really liked them, but then I went and test drove an 05 accord with the 5 speed and the 2.4 vtec. just an awesome smooth quiet and comfortable car. Im pretty set on it now. plus the power is more than adequate. it doesnt have that 4 banger feel.

x2

In the last week and a half I've put on about 1500 miles on my Fusion, almost entirely on the highway. I did 250 miles with the cruise set on 67, and got 37.2 mpg. I did about 200 miles where it said I averaged 87 with speeds much higher than that and still got 26 mpg. I averaged around 32 over all of that driving. I only have the 4 banger and 5 speed, the 09's will have a 6 speed manual which will help even more. I highly recommend the Fusion.

I like the Fusion but it is not available with a manual with the 6cyl..I need a new car next summer when the lease is up on the Xpediton, but I would like a Fusion with a manual trans and a 6cly.. How is the car with power with the I4??

In the mean time I got a little beater to go back and forth to work and it is working out great.. The car with tags, insurance for the year and a tune up was $850 and not a problem with the car.. It a little escort with a 5 speed and it is getting around 35mpg..It is also keeping the miles down on the pickup..It was the only solution for me to keep my truck since both our vehicles suck gas...

I have a 2008 with a 5 speed, going up mountain passes at 70+ I don't have to down shift at all. I actually can accelerate up the hill with out downshifting. If I'm running 55-60 or so, I'll have to down shift to 4th. Overall its got enough power for me. Its not a sports car, but it will go. I would have preferred the 6 cyl/5speed combo but I settled on this after test driving one.

The 2009's coming out later this year have 10 hp more in the 4cyl and a 6 speed rather than the 5.

Sorry about the selling of your truck. Makes me think of mine and what I'd do. It'll be a cold day in hell before other people decide for me what I drive. They are forcing us to drive crappy little econoboxes because, who knows because why. Probably to compensate for some stupid decision made "green unfriendly" now are taking the easy way out, oil companies reeping the benefits. I dunno, sorry for ranting, I'm sure you all feel about the same so it was pointing out the obvious. Hell, worst case, I park my truck and break out the Huffy, I need the excercise anyways = win/win! Don't let politicians hear this though.
