Tint...is this true?

I live in Michigan where the tint law is 35%

A friend of mine who has nearly a black rear window said it only applys to the side windows. You can have the back window dark as you like, as long as you can see threw it. He said pannel vans dont have windows in the rear, so its almost the same thing. Is that true?

Pretty much. Rear view windows and back seat windows can usually be as dark as you want, here in Michigan anyway. The front passenger and front drivers aren't suppose to be tinted, or no more than 35% which is fairly light.

I have factory tint on the 2 back windows and rear window of my Screw. The front passenger and drivers windows weren't tinted. I recently got 15% on the 2 fronts which is technically illegal, but I have been pulled over with the tint on the truck for a different traffic violation (turning on red) and the cop never said anything about it. 15% is an almost identical match to the factory tint on the back and/or side windows depending on your truck.

However, my buddy at work just got popped in Adrian, MI for his tint on his Taco. Cop pulled him over for that reason alone, and ticketed him. It's just a risk you have to take. The Po Po philosophy is that tinited front windows obstruct the cop from being able to see into the vehicle, thus making it unsafe if the driver decides to do something stupid.

Yes, it can be as much as you want...

What about when you add a truck cap, or a backrack, or those cool looking rear window designs...

Or ever think about limos? Notice they only have the drivers side/passenger side and windshield almost no tint? Some I think for driver's safety don't have any tint on the windshield and drivers/passengers side windows.

Hey Ranger, where in MI do you live anyway? I know you mentioned your bro was a state trooper. I have a cousin that's a cop in Brighton. I live in Whitmore Lake. Just curious.

- OK, continue thread...

Okemo's, Prob about 40-50 minutes from Brighton.

My brother lives in Ann Arbor (about an hour an a half from my house)
He's been with the state police for about 3 years, and was in the oakland co. sheriff's department before that, for about 4 or 5 years.

Very familiar with A2 and Okemos. I went to MSU and work in A2.
Maybe we can grab a beer sometime if we're in each other's area.

I also live in michigan i have my front windows tinted to match my rear windows. ive had it for about a year and haven't had any problems yet. There is a girl driving around here that drives a chevy Tahoe with limo tint all the way around, on top of the factory tint in the rear and on the sides and also on the windshield.
