Has anyone gotten into this ? I just took my old catalytic converters in and got $160 for all 4.
Work sucks so much around here that we are gathering all our Copper,Brass and Aluminum scrap together . I have allot of it around here. I live in a third generation home so I have allot of scrap that's added up - at least 200 years worth lol.
Since I started cleaning up around here , other friends and family members are donating there scrap . Well I have quite a bit now - Just picked an old Trampoline from one guy - Solid Aluminum $$$. Probably close to 140 lbs of Copper and 70 lbs of Brass. I'll guess at the aluminum - about 500 lbs ready to take in.
Question is, I just started doing this for beer money really, but ended up with more than enough for just that. The market is high 3.90 per lb for Copper, but the salvage yards are offering me $3.00 per lb. Is there somewhere else I could turn this in at and get more for it ?

Make sure you return to an "Auto Salvage" only -Some places don't deal with them , BUT will offer you a VERY low price for them - Don't do it, call around and you'll see.
ALSO - I need to look further into this, but I've read/learned that you can return old O2 sensors ...?? I haven't tried that , but I have 8 old ones laying around - I will post what happens or what I find out

I recycle our aluminum cans here at the house. A full 30-gallon trash can brings me about $15.00 from the scrap yard a mile or two up the road. I do it more for larks than anything else -- gives me a good excuse to hop on Amazon and purchase a CD from a band I'm interested in more than anything. FWIW -- my wife thinks it's completely asinine......

elso, WASH – The 7th and 8th person has been arrested in a large scale theft ring involving telephone cable; more arrests are expected. The case began with a tip in January and Deputy Craig Shelton has been pursuing the suspects in the case ever since. There have been tens-of-thousands of dollars of phone cable stolen. The thefts have been large scale commercial sized cable that is between 3" - 6" in diameter. Qwest communications has reported hundreds and hundreds of feet of the cable stolen from locations throughout the Longview, Kelso and Rainier area. The thieves took the cable to metal recyclers in the Portland Oregon area and sold it as scrap. Some of the recyclers have cooperated with the investigation.

Hooked my 8000 lb WARN Winch to it and the sh^t began to pile up, like spaghetti. It may be the largest ball of Copper you ever seen

I'll finally be able to get rid of this stuff - I have a few engine blocks as well. Never crossed my mind until recently that this stuff was worth anything.
