Am I blind or does that thing not have any cup holders? Doesn't even have a proper console where I could set a roll of duct tape...

I doubt those who can afford these care, haha. In the Jay Leno video, the designer explains how they designed the "truck" to fit a bag of golf clubs.

I kinda like just throwing them in the back of my truck

Well, you don't eliminate the need to burn fossil fuels with this car, you reduce it. We still burn fossil fules to generate electricity.

This car is a win/win for everyone. People who want to reduce their consumption can feel good that they aren't filling a tank to fuel it. People who like burning fossil fuels can feel good that some where there are fossil fuels being burned to eventually power this car.

I don't think that it will be that long before there are cars using this technology that are practicle and affordable to the masses. Could be just a few years away.

It would have to be a long slow switch to electric cars. We currently don't have the capacity for everyone to use electric cars. We will have to build more power plants and such. Which coal burning will be most economical source, which the tree huggers already hate. More pollution but coal plants can actually clean up the emissions some it is just really expensive to do so.
Something will have to change in the future we'll just have to wait and see what technology it wins out. I just wish we would get off of the E85 crap, its a short term halfass solution.

The top end elise is about 55K, the lower end being about 45. I've seen a few used in the 30s. There's a ton of them around here. All the rich kids got tired of driving daddy's vette and bought an Elise. There's a track in Cresson that has em out there all the time. They look like they hang with some of the slower Porsche's.
