6.2 Litre Mustang

I just got the latest issue of 'Car and Driver' in the mail. They say the next model Mustang, which comes out next year as a 2010, will have the 6.2 with over 400 hp as an option... Eventually. They say in 2011. Who knows what will change between now and then though?

Typical rag. The 6.2 is not even on the production list and has been sent back for evaluation for Eco-Boost technology. If it doesn't make it- you won't see it. Frankly, there are other reasons it may not see the street and one is fuel costs. To make more power you have to burn the gas. Folks are already dumping the SUVs and trucks for econoboxes. The 6.2 certainly doesn't fit in the "economy class". If it makes the Eco-Boost transition, look for it in the Super Dutys as a replacement for the V10. In a Mustang.....I'd bet it won't happen.

I really don't think it'll happen. I like the design of the new "Mustang". However it 's not very Mustang-like, it looks like some import. I say call it something else, get a new emblem, make it above the Mustang to compete with the Z06s.

Just because not everyone will want a 6.2 doesn't mean no one will.

That's why I saved every penny I could stash away to make sure I got one of the current models to keep long term before they went out of production. While the new 'Stang will likely offer better overall performance, I felt anything Ford would do to the exterior styling would only "dumb down" the pure, vintage styling cues of the current model.......

6.2L with 400 hp i kinda expected more than that. with the eco boost engines ford is coming out with the v6's would have almost that much hp.
