My post wasn't meant to take away from the "glory" of the Supra, it's an awesome vehicle. It's a shame there are all barely exsistant or torn to no return.
I hear ya Thump. This was mostly aimed towards MOFord21's comment about Toyota.

And the guy I knew that had the 1000hp supra lives in your neck of the woods Thump. His license plate actually reads "1000hp". But this was 6-7 years ago and I am not sure if he still even owns the car. He also owned a 9 second Mistubishi Eclipse and a VERY nice yellow Porsche for his daily driver. His dad was a rich guy that owned a computer company in Puerto Rico. And he lived over near kirkman on the west side of town.

the Hennessey viper is just an 08 ACR with exhaust and K&N filters... So don't go whining it some heavily modified car.

The ACR would be 1st over all, but they took off the rear sway bar hoping to help the car through the wet skid pad great. It lost control and came in 42nd place. Look at all the events done so far and the viper is 1st or 2nd in every event.

Overall:

ACR is #2
Z06 is #3
GTR is #7

Oh so now there are exceptions eh?

All you sated was...

STOCK internals! Not many motors can do that if any.
I just quoted a few off the top of my head that do.

03 cobras and gt-500's are in that price range. Hell 96-99 Vipers are in that price range now too. Last time I saw a decent turbo supra for sale they were wanting mid to upper 30's.

BTW i'm not hating on supras. I used to race a single turbo nitrous fed 93... Fun cars for sure.

The ACR viper is just under 100k and ready to race... not a good comparo for the GTR. When a lightweight race prepped GTR comes out then compare the two. The GTR lapped Button Willow 5 secs faster than the Z06 and Porsche TT in a Road and Track test. For the money the GTR is crazy!

When...ifs....

This is NOW... The ACR for 92k will beat the GTR(which will go for the same after dealer mark up). This isn't the hardcore ACR. It even has a nav unit in it.. Which having something fancy like that is very un-viper like. Hell the viper doesnt even have traction control.

Excuses excuses...

I cant wait until 5 years down the road when these GTR's start falling apart like most typical nissans. Specially with all the electric gizmo's on it.

$45,000 for a twin turbo Supra was a LOT of money in 1990. That same $45,000 in 1990 is equal today to:

$71,387.83 using the Consumer Price Index
$65,982.06 using the GDP deflator
$79,912.62 using the value of consumer bundle *
$74,482.46 using the unskilled wage *
$88,907.74 using the nominal GDP per capita
$107,332.03 using the relative share of GDP

That $70,000 for the GT-R doesn't sound so bad now, eh?

You do realize the GTR is an icon in Japan right... this is not a "new" car for Nissan; just new to the US. The GTR can be had for sticker... talked to the Nissan US rep at the Dallas Auto show and he told me they are not all sold and some are being sold for sticker.

There are no excuses... look at Nurburgring times putting the GTR close to an Enzo Ferrari!

Here's the link with Road and Tracks take on the 911, GTR, and Z06:

GTR vs Z06: 4 different tracks with GTR lapping faster at each
http://www.fastestlaps.com/index.php...=4571c3c67224f

GTR vs Viper: No times listed for ACR. SRT 10 was 44 secs slower around Nordschleife.

Bring on the excuses excuses excuses. When a car is a good track car it is what it is.

All the cars mentioned would look fantastic in my driveway! I like them all. Too bad I won't EVER spend $75,000 on any car.

To get my speed fix I hop on a $8000 crotch rocket. You can't drive a GTR on one wheel!
