Eh, why not... Lemon lot fun.

Gotta love military lemon lots.

Sold some toys I wasn't playin' with anymore so this 200 dollar beater is basically nothin' out of pocket.

'87 F-150, 300, T-18, shortbox, "extra parts".

I figure I can clean up these rims and recoup some money

And some extra tires...

Talked to the guy today, he says the 300 "runs", but doesn't currently start. Meetin' up tommarra with the keys and title. If I can't jump it I'll just drag it over here to the dorms and start a new project. Prolly be sellin' parts cheep so orders welcome.

$200 not a bad find, worth more than that just as scrap metal.

The Mule runs!

Corroded off wire from the fuel pump relay wire got me roarin with a little cleaning of the battery cables. 300 purrs smooth as the day bolted together even on year old gas.

Slave and/or master cylinder is toast though. I'll start with the slave after next paycheck and I figure out how to do it. Never did an external slave cylinder before. Clutch holds strong though as I made it around the block after starting in first and at the right speed pulled to second.

Think I got a winner...

My dad had an '85 with the 300 ci I6. I assume this is the same engine. That engine had more than 200k on it when we sold it. Dad bought it with about 50k miles. He only spent around $400 on maintenance until he sold the truck (plus tires and oil changes).

$200 is a great find just to have something to play with!

I always thought the side mirror mounts that Ford used during that era looked like they were slapped together by a couple of rubes out behind the barn! I can't believe something like that actually got out of a major manufacturer's design studio.....

I love lemon lots. 9:10 they don't know what they've got. Deployments/reassignments make for hasty decisions sometimes.

Yup, who knows what higher power came down to ford in the '60s and gave em the mighty 300. Basically unchanged 'till '87 with EFI which I am glad I have. Blew out a brake line so far, so that's gettin' worked right now.

Otherwise yeeeehaww!

Lil' update.

Sorry the pics suck, my old camera is dieing and my new one won't even take a picture except for a few pixels in the corner, anyway...

Got all the junk tires to the recycling center, somewhat ok tires on steel rims on the truck, and the aluminum rims off the truck to sell here this week hopefully.

Ripped out the trashed floor, put the good bench seat in Mello, and mounted up some free kinda good bronco buckets with power lumbar (oooooo, ahhhhh...)
