Hooked up a converter box on one of the TVs. The stupid instructions were for the box to a TV, no mention of what to do if you have a VCR?DVD. Had to figure it out. Sure is good reception throught the converter.

yea just put the converter between the wall or antenna and your first device in line

Why do you get a narrower picture? Lose at the top and bottom of the screen.

It looks like a widescreen format, but in the setup, I chose normal, which I thing is 4-3 or some such number
