Went to the office today. First time in a year and a half. Was great to see everyone but I sure like working from home. The best part was the drive, very pleasant. It’s 100 miles over there, went on freeways and came back on back country roads. Averaged 22.6 running 75 most of the time. Had the truck since April, 2020 and now have 1360 miles on it.

Made a pitstop And a guy in the parking lot asked me what engine I had and when I said 5.0 he said he wished he had gotten the 5.0. He had the exact same truck but with the 2.7. He was concerned with its durability. He said his previous truck was a 2014 with the 5.0 and he put over 400,000 on it. Why did he not go with the 5.0 again. Bests me.

Good morning everyone!

Had a cool front come through Saturday morning and dropped temps into the high 30's which is cold for us. Now its heading back up into the 70's but no rain and sunny. Grandson came back in Saturday after 2 months on the ship he's been working on in Europe. He took his truck back and now I need him to pick me up and take me on a few doctor's appointments. Have one this evening at 1pm for my annual skin cancer check up. Had melanoma removed over 7 yrs ago but still need to get a check up. Looked at new trucks last week but the prices and availability are crazy.

Yep, current pricing is just crazy. I sure got lucky my water pump was going out in my 2014 and motivated me to buy my 2020 in April 2020. Sticker price was 49,000 and I got them to 35,000 before my trade in. For XLT Sport with 5.0. If I were looking now, I would spend some maintenance money on the 2014 and keep it. Sticker prices have gone way up and the do not deal now.

My wife has informed me that it would be cruel to make him drive it as his first car……😐

If it runs and it's safe, that's all a 16 year old needs. First car should always be a beater because the odds are he will trash it.

Agreed - we are working through our “culture clash” on this issue because of our very different upbringings! She was the little “rich girl” who grew up in a family where all the girls got brand new cars when they turned 16 - I was born into a large, blue-collar family where you got whatever hand-me-down beater my old man could find on the cheap and were damn happy to have it…….😂

I have to admit that I am somewhat taken aback when I look at the cars many of his classmates are driving to school - let’s just say most drive vehicles that are WAY nicer than the vehicles I drive around in throughout the week…..😮

I don't have a theoretical limit on value for a first car, but I firmly believe a kid should have "some" sweat equity into the purchase of their first car. So they can truly appreciate the cost of the vehicle, and will hopefully encourage them to take better care of it

Took the wife to go truck shopping on Black Friday and came home with this. 2021 XLT Expedition 4x4 with the FX4 package. Max tow package also. 3.5 Ecoboost and 3.73 gearing. Better road trip vehicle and they would at least come off the price vs a F150. Already have 500 miles on it. Can tow up to 9,200 lbs. Magnetic metallic with wheels to match.
