Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it should be a pretty easy day today! Have what should be a very quick jobsite inspection just east of downtown Dallas and then I'll hop on the highway and get on back to Houston! Meeting the wife and boy at grandma's house on the north side of the Houston area (Montgomery) for an evening swim at the pool -- we usually order pizza delivered right to us poolside, so dinner should already be covered beyond grabbing some sodas, napkins and paper plates......

Of course, now that I just put that out there, my phone will probably start blowing-up with all sorts of "Friday afternoon emergencies" and builders in a panic.....

About time to get some gas in the truck...filled up in Texas a week and a half ago and still have almost 1/4 tank left. Nice to have the 36 gallon tank. Averaging over 17 mpg for almost 800 miles since we left 2 weeks ago. This was some in town driving and even pulling the 16' utility trailer yesterday with some wood loaded on it. Used Shell 87 on the way to Houston and Valero 87 on the way back. Put one container of Techron additive in before fueling up at the start of the trip. Still amazed how these trucks can get such good fuel mileage even running at the posted speed limits on the highway. Even ran the limit around Beaumont at 75mph.

I figured an order of onion rings for $3 would be a small bag like you get at Sonic or some such place. No, it was a big trey that filled a sack. Beer battered. You eat the onion rings there with a burger and take the sausage home.

Y's recently increased the burger price, it's now $4 for 1/3 lb. They grind up their own beef. Cheese is .25 and bacon is .75. Another patty is 1.00. They have given me 2 patties a few times late in the day, so they won't have any left over. A double patty bacon cheeseburger is a handful!

I just filled mine up on Memorial Day weekend. That was the first time since February I've put gas in it and I still had a little less than half a tank

I don't think that's because of fuel economy though

I've got to where I fill up once a week no matter what I have in the tank. Some weeks it'll only take 3 gallons and others 10 or 12 gallons. Plus with supreme prices up around 2.75 a gallon its easier on the wallet

I have found a 86 f150 in Iraan. Looks to be in pretty good shape, baby blue on top, white down the middle and baby blue on bottom. Looks all original still has the original hubcaps on it. 302 engine. Getting the itch for a old truck to play with.
