The leaves are falling so it's clean up time. My wife thinks we should actually catch them before they it the ground. She's a neat freak. It's the only part of having so many trees that I hate.

It's just kind of the nature of the work I do -- some days you're really busy, some days you're really slow, and some days you're in between. I have worked with the same boss for almost 20 years, so he really doesn't check in on me much more than the obligatory phone call every week or two. Within our department, we always say, "Work like hell on the busy days, enjoy like hell on the slow days!"

I have actually gone through periods of time measuring in weeks where there was literally nothing to do -- all I had to do was carry my cell phone with me wherever I went so someone could get ahold of me if they needed to. The flip side to this is that when someone does need you, you might have to hop on a plane in a matter of hours regardless of what is going on in your personal life, so as with most things in life, there's always a trade-off.

Growing up back in the Midwest, my old man refused to allow trees in our yard for that very reason! Oddly enough, I don't recall him ever telling stories about how he was forced to rake leaves in his youth, so I'm not sure where he learned to hate raking so much but he sure did......

the wind that came along with this cold front is doing a pretty good job of cleaning up ours and sharing them with the neighbors....

Where we are on the side of the hill and how the wind blows, we get most of all the neighbors plus all our own.

nice lol. guy that owns the land makes it real easy to retrieve moose, then he helps with the moose, gives us a free bucket of salt fish, a free boat engine, and a buddy got a newborn beagle off him.

then a super good deal for rotors and bearings for the '04, and granddad pays for a box of tiles we need. great day so far....
