Checked the trans fluid last night and it's still dark red without any clutch material.

Pat, the fluid smelled like synthetic but I didn't feel it. What should I be looking for?

Bad = Grittiness, or if its too slick or thin watery feeling

it should feel a little sticky (resistance) between your fingers

Pat, I checked it again at lunch and it's slick with some very fine grit mixed in.
