Everybody ran out of salt/calcium chloride in this state. Had to hunt some down this morning. Finally found some at the crusher, - where they bust it up and sell to the county by the ton lol. They wouldn't bag it for me, but they let me fill up 4- 5gal buckets. That should be enough for little brother and I.
Can't believe everyone ran out around here. - I guess it's been a pretty icy winter.

Can you find Magnesium Chloride at yer local builder's supply -the folks whut sell stone, pavers, mortar n' sich? Not the bigbox stores like Lowe's er Home Despot.
50 lb bag = $20. Always seem to have lots, independent of salt supply.
They ran outta salt 'round here too ($60/ton). City won't use MAG due to cost.

I probably won't use that , unless I have no other choice. I'm not sure if I could get it, haven't really tried. My concrete drive still looks great and that Magnesium stuff is pretty hard on everything; -corrosive wise anyway. I believe the Calcium and Magnesium work about the same from what I recall. - As far as ice melt anyway.

Says it's hard on the environment and twice as corrosive to metals including stainless. I believe severity depends upon on the mix.
Spalling is measured on a scale of 0 to 5 (none to severe). A 4% solution of MgCl2 showed moderate scaling and had a 3.1 rating. The same concentration of CaCl2 had a 1.6 rating, or between very slight and slight to moderate scaling.

Hard to control concentration when yer sprinkling it on the ground with one with a frostie in the other, lol ... I use very little, as it seems to really get the job done even in small quantities - and at very low temperatures too.

Same here, we got caught. Warmed up one night, snowed,= wet stuff, then it the temps took a dive. By morning there was a couple inches of ice. I went thru some poundage there, about a couple hundy anyhow...Very fast! Took 3 or 4 applications to chisel thru it.
I was going to throw some weed and feed down for traction. I have allot of that for some reason, but..Nahhh.

A good scout troop is the Best thing a young man can get into. Both my son and foster son went all the way to Eagle. My son joined at 11years old and about 6 months later I became an assistant SM. My son is 23 and I'm still there.

Troop is about 70 registered boys, 40 consistently active, and we had 21 brave enough to fight the elements. We had 12 adults so we had a great time and plenty of helping hands

Yes I completed my Eagle requirements right before my 18th B-day in 03 and received shortly after in 04
