Dealership just called, they're going to fix my wife's Impala for free. Good thing I searched the internets. Saved me about $500.

The original catalytic converter warranty is supposed to last 8/80,000. Old cat went out at 96,000. I was out of warranty. Got a new cat and had it welded in. Later I got a code, p420. I was miffed, so i searched and found a letter that GM extended the cat warranty to 10/120,000. Well, I was upset since GM never sent me the letter. Now they're fixing it up. Hopefully the p420 won't come back up. But if so, I already bought another oxygen sensor. I bet since the original cat was clogged it may have fouled the sensor. Funny since the CEL never came on until after the cat was replaced the first time. Hopefully it won't come back. I have to get the car inspected.

hey, that's good news from an irritating situation. Is that Lynn Smith Chev? I had good luck with that dealership when I had the Silverado.

Yes, that's where I bought the thing in 02. The car has been OK, already had the transmission rebuilt under warranty once, and a steering rack.

I wonder if the "pool water" incident was just an initiation prank.
