I wonder what it would cost to have them painted at a shop?

About 2 more months and I need to put the stock wheels back on. Not going to get into winter wather with the tires I'm running. I have to really slow down every time it comes a shower. Have to be very careful on take offs.

I'll take mine off for winter too. I have not experienced any slippage with the new rim/tire setup yet.

Yeah, I may have to go over there and paint the stuff myself.

I painted my 56 F100 and painted some parts on my 66 GT Mustang. The Mustang stuff turned out pretty good. The truck didn't. That was all with lacquer, though. I have no idea how to do the clear coat.

The thing with lacquer, you can wet sand it to remove orange peel, then buff it to a shine. I don't think you can do that as well with base coat/clear coat.

My friend knows how to work with it. His paint work looks pretty good.

The key is probably having a fairly smooth base and then how you mix the clear. The shine is probably dependent on how "wet" you mix it. How much thinner, reducer, or whatever agent it uses.

I just hope he can match the rest of the truck. I need a major detail.
