It's cheaper to build your own than to buy.

Got this from a friend today. Just unbelieveable. The thing is, this is about the 10 such find the guy has made over the last 20 years. All kinds of cars and trucks. He sent a pic of the one he hauled home. Red and white 1958.

Hi Jim
Well you better sit down for this one! You only get one life time Barn find in your life time and I found mine this weekend. I had got the bug to get an old Corvette and have been looking the last couple months. Sat. morning I typed in ( 1958 Corvette ) on craigslist.com , but I accidentally spelled Corvette CORVATTE and when I hit enter a listing came up ( Corvatte 1958 pair ) I thought it might mean Corvette parts not pair. When I clicked on it there was a picture of two 58 Vettes in a dirt floor barn covered with 1/2 inch of dirt. So I called and the guy says, yep, I still have them, come and look at them. Well we were headed to the lake with the kids so I couldn't go look at them and figured it was a joke also. That evening when we got home I called and he said I still have them, no one came to look at them today. I asked if I could come look at them on Sunday and he said it was Father's day and he wasn't going to mess with them. I called Monday morning and he said he hadn't got any calls on them and I asked if they had vin plates on the door post. He went and looked and said yes, the numbers on the plates on the doors matched the titles from 1962. So I put some money in my pocket and headed out the two hour drive. When I got there they were just like he said and more parts than I could haul in three pickups. I paid him and loaded the street car and as many parts as I could get and I will have to go back and get the other one this weekend. You'll have to come see them when I get them home. Jerry

All that just because he typed "Corvatte", by accident.

here is the one he picked up, the other one is in the background. He gets it this weekend. That is all I have on it. I will see him tomorrow. They were last tagged in 1962, if I read his email correctly.

In the 30 years or so I have known him, he has built 3 show car street rods including frames, etc. He had a 65 Shelby, one of 253 built. He has had numerous other Mustangs and Ford hot rods. Everything he has owned was Ford powered. This is the first Chevy he has owned as far as I know.

That's freakin' amazing. Those baby's are such sweet looking Vette's I built a model of one years ago. It truly is amazing to think of the hidden gems that exist in this world. All those cars/trucks had to have gone somewhere.

Have a good night everyone
