No they are not aware of the problem.

All jokes aside the Toyota frames did have some scary rust issues going on, considering my Ranger's frame would pass for being 10 years old with the paint gone and just a light coat of surface rust having a frame you can fit muliple fingers through on a 10 year old truck is downright scary.

As much as it pains me to say this, it seems Toyota is actually trying to make it right, I heard it was $2k over bluebook for the buyback. But if the frame is shot I am not sure what else they could do either. Odd how this isn't all over the front page news though...

x2. this forum is the only place i have heard of this "buy back" program. i almost dont believe it because i literally havent heard squat about it anywhere else. but it doesnt suprise me. if ford was buying back f150s it would be a 24/7 bashfest in the car mags and tv news shows....and people say the media isnt biased

Hey Guys,

I did some digging and it is indeed true that Toyota is buying back '95 - '00 Tacomas if the frame is rusted out. Actually, it's a pretty sweet deal too. You can do all the Toyota bashing you want, but has Ford, GM or Chrysler ever bought back anything due to a problem? Nope. Have they had problems of this magnitude? Yup. I for one am impressed.

I"m a domestic guy and I don't know anything about the Toyota's but this thread gives me the impression that Toyota's customer service is VERY good. Is sounds like they are fessing up to their errors and paying for them as they should.

Whoever said "buy a Taco, and then sell it back to Toyota". Great idea! Do it, and then PM me.

From another board. This fellow works at GM in Oshawa:

Too bad it had to be these with mounting problems, they look way better than the new Tundra.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A nationwide investigation by the Channel 4 I-team found complaints about the 2007 Toyota Tacoma that included mysterious acceleration even when drivers said they hit the brakes.

I found this statement quite intriging coming from a GM employee.

According to him, nothing good can come from an admission of guilt apposed to trying to bury a problem and stick the cost to the consumer. And I'm sure GM is not innocent of doing this....

Now that's standing behind your product!

BTW, I'm not directing any of this to you last5oh_302, just commenting on Hoopers comments.
