need some help with a laptop

bought a laptop about a month ago

toshiba satelite p205d-s7802

in a month the screen has gone black and been unresponsive five or six times. happened twice today. it's still running but the only way to get it to do anything is to remove and replace the battery.

thinking about taking it to have it looked at but i doubt the idiots at best buy will know anything. i do have a warranty on it but i can't afford to be without it for 6 weeks.

anyone have an idea?

If its under warranty, let what must be done be done. Would you rather have a non working laptop right now or a working laptop in a week or two?

My Dell has occasionally done that. Actually, what I do is have the power button set to put the system into hibernation. Then, when that happens, I just hit the power button, system goes into hibernation, turn it back on, then it works just fine.
Some of the options you might have are, if its only a month old, there is a chance you could exchange it for a new one. OR, just let Toshiba warranty it, might have on site support. OR, if you do have to mail it out for repairs, buy another one from a location with a good return policy, like Sam's Club or Costco and then return it when you get yours back from Toshiba.

Things you might attempt to fix the issue is update the BIOS and system drivers. Check the power saving settings in the BIOS and Windows.

Luckily I got the extended warrenty and everything was fixed. But.. it should of never been that way in the first place. a lot of other things went wrong too. STEER CLEAR OF TOSHIBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
