what emergency stuff do you keep in your truck/toolbox
i'm planning on getting a new toolbox soon, and right now i have a homemade wooden box in the bed that keeps all my stuff. i was wondering what everyone keeps in case of emergency.
what i have: maps, owners manual, 1 can fix-a-flat, 100' of 1/4" rope, 300' of 550 cord, spare jacket, jumper cables, climbing harness and shoes and chalk bag and belaying gear(i go to the climbing gym sometimes), tire pressure gauge, paper towels, bungie cords, 4 spare MRE's(i found them in the garage. they havent expired yet and i never use them, so i threw them in the truck.), this combo flashlight+flashing amber light+cigarette lighter powered tire pump thing my grandmother gave me, a handheld ham radio+magnetic mount antenna, surefire 65 lumen flashlight with batteries that have a shelf life of 10 years, and of course, my umbrella.
what i want: fire extinguisher, recovery strap, trailer hitch(havent had time to stop by walmart) and a nice toolbox to put it all in.

The only "survival" stuff I really carry with me is my mag light and my 7'' rambo knife. When I turn 21 a handgun will also ride along with me in my truck. Ive also got my cell phone, and my AAA card, and since I live in a big city, I dont really have a whole lot to worry about. When it starts raining in Phoenix though, I almost always carry a recovery strap with me, because theres almost always some idiot who thinks their mercedes or beamer is gonna make it through a flowing wash.

I got my HAM radio equipment, CB radio, cell phone with charger and 2 extra batteries, 3 30' tow straps, 5 tie downs, 398 piece craftsman tool chest full of sockets and more, tire pump, 2 tire pressure gauges, candles, road hazard signs, 9 ton bottle jack, 3 1/2 ton floor jack, 2 jack stands, cordless 350 ft/lb nut buster, 2 crow bars, about 30 various screw drivers, cordless screw gun with 2 batteries, 3 flash lights, 1500 watt power inverter, road flares, hack saw, wood saw, spare tire, 4 wheel chocks, assorted screws, nuts, bolts, caulking, and more...
In my emergency box I got, various ointments, bandages, athletic tape, box of gloves, digital thermometer, pain killers, alcohol, syringes, gauze pads, etc...
I'm surprised I'm not a AAA and an ambulance all in one....

In my tool box I have:
Jack + tools for jack and tire
Socket/screw drivers
Toilet paper and paper towels
12 MRE's/Jugs of water I replace every month
Flashlight with spare batteries
Tow strap
Blanket and towels
Tarp
Tie downs/Bungee cords
Hitch
My IBA/Kevlar/Battle Axe/Cold weather gear
Candles and 2 lighters and the MRE's have weather resistant matches plus the food warmers which can help you stay warm
There is enough to keep me and my family alive for at least 2 weeks as far as food and water is concerned. I have stuff to keep us warm, to use the bath room, and to see at night. I doubt though, I will ever be on a road that is so far out in a 5/10 mile radius there wont be a cell phone tower.
Like everyone else says, I have a cell phone with charger, GPS with charger, I feel I could def take advantage of a civilian GPS, cell phone, military training, and the will to get my family to safety in the worse case scenario.
