Well I have to get a new daily driver.
Keep the F150.
For the amount you'd waste over a quick amount of time on a new car, you could yield you a 5 years of gas out of the F150.
Buying a fuel efficient car: Waste $$ up front (Have monthly payments, insurance, gas still.)
Keeping the F150: Waste $$ over a long period of time. (No monthly payments. But still you'd have insurance and gas still.)
So choose wisely.

He's not getting rid of anything. I have a feeling if his parents feel it is necessary he will have a truck, a fuel efficient car, a summer car, a winter vehicle, and a crotch rocket.
When I was in school I had a pretty fuel efficient car. 1978 Honda Civic. Had over 100k. Got it for four hundred bucks. My parents couldn't buy themselves a 35k car, let alone buy me any car.
If your parents are going to reward you for being their kid, get all you can. The well may run dry some day and you might end up in the same boat most of us are in.
I would think that an STI would be fun to drive. It's not going to do better than 20mpg if you drive it like I would drive it.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. 2008 is a new body style putting down 250 hp to the wheels stock. With a few thousand in mods and tuning it's puts down 350+ TO THE WHEELS!! I have an 03 with over 300 HP to the wheels and I get 26-28 MPG on the highway and 22 MPG city. AWD is awesome.
Either:
1) You are lying. Your not that douche looking kid in the picture (edit*should be more specific, the reflection in the car pic on the other thread). Your father did not just buy a 130k car, your just a liar.
2) You and your father are ****ing morons.
Buying a car over the F150 for economy????? WTF!
$35,000 car = 10,000 galons of fuel (91octane where I am) = 10,000 gallons of fuel * 15mpg(I get 19, but we will give you some credit) = 150,000 miles you could drive on that F150. What do most people drive in a year? 12,500 is what ive heard. OK so thats 12 years of driving at todays prices. or 6 times longer than most people i know even keep their vehicle
/
Can anyone come up with a #3??? troll maybe?

Hmm.. we'll I feel I'm going to be slaughtered for this suggestion but all things considered The Pontiac G8 GT is a pretty nice ride. You get the G8 GT fully loaded for $32k msrp. It's got a 361hp 6.0L V8 that will get you right in the 24mpg range (highway) and maybe a few speeding tickets as well? I'm sure this is more than enough, and it's got rave reviews thus far.
Personally I'd consider it, if my daily driver wasn't a 2006 Honda Civic EX. Sure the Civic may be lacking in high end power, but as far as city driver, it kicks butt, and has nice styling, inside and out. (for less than 20k ya can't beat it.) or... you could always get an Si, and rice it out?
All in all, I'd seriously consider the G8 with your budget. It's practically a BMW from the looks of it, and for half the price.

I second the subaru. great cars.
I really don't think anything is wrong with it. Don't see why you guys are gonna flame him for having rich parents. I've been on my own for awhile, but I can tell you this, If my dad called me up and told me I could get a 35k car, I would take it in a heartbeat, and so would anyone else on here. Even if his reasoning didnt make alot of sense, makes enough for me to get a NEW car.
With that said, if it had to be a car, I would get a Jetta diesel. Buddy has one, gets 50mpg on the highway. Not sure how much they cost though.
