Yes, thanks, those are good!

I agree with LT, I seldom like a cover as well as the original. Occasionally I will hear what I think is a cover and like it, then find out it was the person that wrote it. They just didn't record it first. One I can think of though is Joe C0cker's "Have a Little Faith in Me", a remake of a Delbert McClinton song.

Any song off of Me First and the Gimmie Gimmie's, Have a Ball album. Actually anything by Me First and the Gimmie Gimmie's is great.

A couple of years ago Maxim Magazine named Have a Ball one of the best road trip albums of all time.

If it's the same song, I think it was actually originally written and performed by John Hiatt.....???

Awesome song, by the way, if it's the same one I am referring to -- in fact I think I'm going to go listen to it right now for the first time in a couple of years!

Yes, you are correct. The weird thing, I like all three versions. They all do it very well. I love Hiatt's music, and the guy is a nut. Almost literally.

I know who you're talking about now. Isn't he a comedian/musician? I used to hear him on the Bob and Tom Show.

I've never seen him live, but I would love to! Dug out the album with "HALFIM" on it and listened to parts on the way over to pick up my little guy at daycare. Damn, I forgot all the good music on that album.

I really love "Memphis In The Meantime" -- I have a great alternative version of it that appeared on a "Cities Sampler" (a charity CD that is released every year over the Holidays by my favorite staion back home in Minneapolis) a few years back!

Good stuff.....

I loved Slow Turning and Riding With the King. Hell I love most of his stuff. Some of it is really twisted. He has to stay on medication, or he goes off the deep end. I saw him, Joe Ely, Lyle Lovett, and Guy Clark at the Bass Hall. It was a writers round table thing. They brought the house down. I also saw Hiatt at the Caravan of Dreams in Fort Worth. One of the best live shows I have seen.
