If a car thief doesn't want to be caught, you would be amazed at the precarious situations the thief would put himself, and your stolen vehicle into.

You would be surprised how hard it is to "intercept" a desperate criminal....

Alright, to me its less about "someone stealing my truck" and more about me pissing one of you off.

Plenty of times someone has made a comment about me to get me flustered, and I am sure its goes around. What if I say something to the wrong guy, who happens to live around here. Looks up the plate, drives 20 minutes, and ****s up my house, my truck, my cars, etc.

Call me paranoid ( I am... I dont know any of you from Moses, so I don't trust ANY of you worth a ****) I would rather play it safe, then feel like a moron.

As for someone driving behind me and me pissing them off... why would they write down my plate ? They most likely would follow me home, and then he would have his faced pressed against the back of his head

Plus this is an internet forum, I am sure a ton of you a some Nerdy geeks who sit online all day, and know how to get into things. Why make it that much easier for you.

Most people blot out their license plates so the criminals can't find your truck, because criminals will go to great lengths to steal anything they can find with ease.

Which do you really think a crook would consider easier...

Browsing 1000's of posts looking for someone who lives nearby, who has something worth stealing, who's posted a picture of their plate, so they can then run the plate to figure out where they live, then go check it out to see if the vehicle is actually there, then actually try and steal something OR see something that looks cool as they're walking down the street and try to steal it then and there?

Besides, if I have a garage with an alarm, how are they going to break in? Knowing my plate # won't help them find my truck if it's not parked at the same location that it's registered at, so anytime I'm at work, or visiting friends, or gone on vacation, etc, it wouldn't matter.

I myself never understood this either.
What is the difference between a thief seeing it here online and a thief seeing it as you drive down the road with your music cranked up for all to hear or attend a car show. I mean people see you plate everyday you drive so what's the difference?

My truck was parked in my driveway and some scumbag saw the winch on the front and decided to steal it. It was a crime of opportunity of which most are.

repo trucks rule !!!!!
push button wheel lift and remote control arms and a back up camera

You folks in the states have far more access to personal info than we do in Canada. We can't simply sign onto a site, pay 10 bux and get plate/personal info (other than if you purchase a UVIP).
I'm amazed at how many threads I've seen lately on various sites where personal info has been posted about an individual for whatever reason (scams, etc).
I assume you can't get info on Canadian plates in the US?

I'm not worried about someone coming to steal my truck, I just don't like the fact that all of your personal information is at the finger tips of anyone who wants it.

I've been a victom of identity theft and I don't want to go thru that again.

just call me Mr. Cautious.
