Does the bike fit in your bed without any trouble (I don't have the bed extender)? And you converted the XR to be street legal?
You're very welcome and thanks for the compliments. Mine is the XR650L so it is already street legal. It does fit in my 5.5 ft bed just fine. You don't need the bed extender as only about 6 inches of the tire sit on the tailgate when its loaded. As some have stated it is a little heavy (320 lbs full of gas) but it really isn't bad to handle offroad. You had better be at least six feet tall though....the seat height is 37 inches! Its also pretty good on gas also. On my last trip to Big Bend I did a 70 mile highway run from Lajitas to Presidio (gorgeous ride) and it got 65 MPG!

What about a KTM 550 or similar size. Still small enough to get through some tighter trails. Big enough to take you wherever you need. I am fairly certain they can be made street legal without much effort. They are probably much more expensive than the Honda though.

Not my cup of tea but there are several happy owners.

One time down on a goat trail and all that plastic fairing stuff is toast. Not to mention the wrestling match to pick it up and I am 6'1" 250.
