As 4th generation oil worker and a current petroleum engineering student I'd venture to say I probably know a little more about the oil industry's economic contributions than you do.

Yes the local economies are thriveing in that area, how about investing in the future and not in the present. The free market economy.
What do you think our founding fathers gave up for the people of this land, I think you may say not much. Buying nice things with that money helps, but if it where invested in the future,,,, never mind it's early and the coffee isn't ready yet.
I would think 4 generations of roughnecking might understand what investing in the future means.
So the people that own the oil coming from the ground make no more or no less money when the price of the oil changes? Is that the statement you just made. I just want to clarify if that is what you believe.

THey have made a great investment in the ElDorado Arkansas economy.
They Arabians are useing the money [royalties] to rid the earth of infidells.
While the people of their land live as peasants. This country is a few steps above that mentality, If a billion dollars were put in your account ,{face it ,you couldn't spend that much money} Would you be a humanitarian or would you spend all your money on yourself? What do you need the money for ? a few million would get you all you wanted for the rest of your life. and keep your family well cared for for generations. What is the rest of the money going to be used for?
If you need it all for yourself you will never understand what humanitarian means!

Do you realize that if I put my money away to save for my families well being for generations like you say, that when obama or billery gets in office, they will push for the capital gains tax to be 39%? I would have to put ALL my money away for any future family to benifit after the government takes MY money!

Its cool, But yes i'm a humanitarian and donate to much, and at times it goes into the wrong pockets. I am making sure my children are getting their education and learnig foreign languages, because the future here in this country appears to be headed into a strictly service oriented society.
In other words my children will be working in other counntries because of lack of investment at home. I just wish in the future i'll be able to visit them without needing my passport. 90% of the jobs here will be socialized by the requirement of minimum wage. So plan for your children. With the attitude that the economy is booming today. Without the investment of the revenue generated by the natural resources, we'll all belong to someone else.
I'll lighten up now with that said.
