Question For those of you who ordered your F150...

Did you think about or try to get pics of it during production?

I never gave that a thought as I never thought it would be possible.

When I ordered mine, I told the salesman that if I got delivery of it with 10 kilometres or less, I would give him a $100 bonus.

When he called me to pick it up, it had 6.6 on the clock.

Also, I stressed to the dealer that I absolutely did not want them to wash it.
Some of the people they employ are a bit mindless, and I didn't want some kid soaping the hood and then smearing the lather around with the shop push-broom dipped in water.

The only other stipulation I had was no stickers or decals of any kind.
They still put the license plate surround on but Habibi the ***** made them remove it.

I think photos of the production process would be very cool.

The salesman I'm working with is a long time friend, and he's **** about the whole washing/decals thing as I am. No worries there.

I just think it'd be cool to have a pic of MY TRUCK rolling off the production line, under it's own power for the very first time. If I get one it'll be the wallpaper on all my PC's here at home, as well as at work. Then I can have the SCrew in my sig replaced with it too!

I'm currently trying to find someone over at BlueOvalForums who works in the F150 production line to see if it is possible.

I would have loved to have walked both of my babies (F-150 and Mustang) through the production process, and were it an option, I unquestionably would have, camera in hand! However, unless your favorite uncle works in a high management position at the plant, you likely wouldn't have the opportunity......

From what I remember, Ford had a deal set-up with a national Mustang club to do just such a thing with the new Mustang. Everyone who ordered a car through this program would have to be at the plant on one certain day, and the cars purchased through the program would even receive special badging.

Then, once Ford realized the new 'Stang was going to be such a huge success, and that they would be selling faster than they could make them, they cancelled the program.

I would love a picture of the last F150 with the manual tranny put into it on the assembly line.

What if everyone that had a hand in building it actually signed it? I have a buddy that worked at the Oregon Freightliner factory and that's what they did on the very last Freightliner truck to come off the line before they switched over to building only Western Stars and military vehicles. Here's some pics of what it looked like before the headliners and floormats were put in.

well... it was a good run... over 40 years of freightliner trucks built at the mother plant here in portland oregon...on thursday the 29th of march the last freightliner truck rolled off the line... i took some pictures of it,but before we let the truck go.. everyone signed it(before being put together.) ..heres a few pics of how it looked.

In the future when I buy a new truck, I would pay an extra $500 (maybe even $1,000 depending on what you can do) to actually help build it if they would let me.

Sorry about the links. They were attachments in a post on our clan forum. I didn't realize you had to be registered and logged in to see them. I copied and moved them here http://www.members.shaw.ca/bchome/truck/ and will fix the links above.

Here's two that are in the folder but I didn't get included in my first post. Won't seem to let me edit more than once.

Glad to see i am not the only one who thinks this way. My dealership thinks I am crazy. We ordered our Mustang two years ago and I gave them specific instructions do not under any circumstances wash my car or remove any of the packing materials and do not put the plates on it.

My son placed a order for his 2008 F-150 and we told them this again for his truck. They have never had anyone request this before me.

What would be cool is if Ford had some way to setup a video system that would alow buyers who placed a order to log in and watch the vehcile being built.
