Depends what exactly you're looking for. What speakers are you using now? If it's quiet, depending on the sound card you may just need a set of powered speakers which you can get for cheap, or you can go all out and go for the 7.1.

These are pretty good for two stereo speakers, but the 7.1 are better if you're going to watch movies on the computer.

im currently using just the speakers that are built into the monitor. so anything would be better than this.

powered speakers you say?

those look nice. and they match my blacked out look. I dont think i need the 7.1 home theater setup. i dont watch movies or anything like that on the puter. just some music while im cruisen the couple sites i am a member of.

I have Bose Companion One's hooked to my laptop. About a hundred bucks at Best Buy. I think they sound really nice for the price.

I'm running these and they sound amazing, but the sub isn't magnetically shielded, which really limits what it can be placed next to.

I would also make sure you have all the settings right on your audio controller and in windows. It could be that just wav files or MP3 files are lower in volume than other things you are not using. Also if it is set to digital output, but you are using analog will screw things up.

If you play a lot of music, the display shows the song info and the buttons are touch sensitive. Someone I work with just got them and really likes the features. I'm probably going to buy them for my home computer as well.

I am using the Bose Companion 3 setup. They'll cost you, but well worth it. The sound is awesome.

I use Roland speakers.
They are not 7.1 or anything, but for music they sound like expensive home stereo speakers.
