well a little update, ive talked it over with the woman, and $1500 would be the max price. I looked at new tampa and tampa palms and really liked it. I found quite a few houses that were nice and small in gated communities which was a major plus. In a few months we are gonna go down there and look at some houses. anybody have any thoughts on new tampa or tampa palms? driving the 30 min drive to school everyday is no biggie for us, we would just sinc our classes together and take her car there and save some gas $.

Wow! You more than doubled your budget! Are you now looking to buy a house or lease a house? Right now is a perfect time to buy a house in FL. There is a DEEP inventory.

Haha, ya, i decided i could work more than i wanted to and live somewhere nicer. im really looking at leasing a house, buying a house would have to have a lot of money up front, we dont have that. plus we arent married yet so it wouldnt be practical. rent for a year is ideally what we are looking for with an option to continue renting.

You may want to search online for some property management companies. I rented a house once and it was great because if something was wrong I called them instead of the owner of the house. They were very responsive. They would make a quick call to the owner and get someone out to fix whatever was wrong. I talked to the owner when we bought a house and he said that he had 3 rentals and wouldn't have it any other way.

I stayed on davis (or maybe davies) island when I was down there a few weeks ago. Derek Jeter was building a house down the road from a buddy of mines place. The houses on the island were built in the 40's I believe he told me, and they ran 400"s and up.

Thoughts ?

Great area to live - MISERABLE area to drive !!!

If you can schedule your classes away from rush hour, your time in traffic won't be so bad.

If you have to travel during rush hour, you better be a patient person and have a functional air conditioner !!!

I lived there 26 years and then decided I had enough of the heat, humidity, traffic, hurricanes, ridiculous insurance rates, escalating taxes and left-lane slow driving dumb-asses !!

Other than that, it was perfect !!!

And that has to do with finding a place to rent how???

Do you mean $400,000? That is nothing for a nice area in Florida.

Could not have said it better myself! Except, still trying to get out of here...

It's great for a few years, but it gets old. Traffic is bad at rush hour in Tampa Palms and New Tampa, but if you can avoid the traffic, it's nice area.

Giving an idea of what the cost of the houses are, you can figure the rent. About $2000 a month, traffic didn't seem all to bad, the women were pretty hot and the cigar shop was the ****! Shall I elaborate more?

and $400K was for a house built in the 40's with one bathroom, tiny rooms and a small lot.
