Speaking of this is there some sort "plunging" mole trap that uses shotgun shells as well? I swear that there was a farmer when I was younger that had one that when the trap was "sprung" it blasted shot into the ground as well. Maybe it was b.s.... I always wondered about that.

I am buying a .22 for the ground hogs but it would be to hard to shoot the mole.

Correct. If you don't have an active run, you're just putting a really expensive fake worm inthe ground. To find out which runs are active, take a dowel rod or piece of rebar and poke a hole in the tunne. Be sure to mark the hole with a can of marking paint so you remember where they are. Also, the holes should be every 5-10 feet. Mole will actually repair holes in their tunnels, so you can come back a couple of days later to check your holes and if they have been "plugged" you can put a 1/2 worm down the hole. That's a pretty quick overview, but you should repeat the process every couple of weeks and watch for areas of new activity.

one of the hundreds of "home remedies" that people swear work. Let's see.... putting a hose in the tunnels, pouring gas and lighting it, sitting with a six pack and a gun, hair, gum, treating for grubs, and so on.

Stick a couple pieces down one of thier holes. They try to eat it, and end up either choking on it or plugging themselves us so bad they die. thats what i have heard, and it did work for us, so i dont know what actually happens to em, i just know it worked.

I never thought about gum but thats actually a good idea, i always used the traps that stick in the ground and pinch the mole when they walk under it. I never had a very high sucess rate with those, usually i'd only get the mole after about 4 tries. But after i got it i was amazed that no new tracks appeared in the lawn, its amazing how much damage one mole can do.

I seem to be having trouble with armadillos. I haven't set up with the old mossberg yet.. Sould I use field loads to run 'em off. or plug them good with a duck or turkey load?
