I live about 5 mins from Lewis Smith Lake in NW Alabama and fish it a lot. Also fish Lake Tuscaloosa for crappie, as well as the Bear Creek lakes in NW Alabama. Smith is a GREAT lake for boating , damn hybrid stripe have put a beatdown on the bass in that lake.

It's cool. My best friend went to State. Studied architecture. They have a great program for that. We don't have a problem all year until the Egg Bowl.

I guess it could be worse. We could all be Ohio State Fans

Sorry. Been driving around the area watching all the people fish!! There are as many Bass Boats here as there are cars.

I'm in the Huntsville - Scottsboro area.

I know that it may sound odd to "y'all", but I've never seen so much fishing before. I mean even the hotel I'm in has "boats only" parking. It's cool.

I'm thinking that the next family vacation is going to be somewhere down here. It's just beautiful here. I wouldn't want to live here just yet, but coming from the desolate plains of Colorado, this is a little bit of paradise with all these trees, lakes, and deep red soil. Just spectacular.

I've noticed that the ladies here are very different than Western Girls. The younger women use a ton of eye makeup, and the older women use a ton of hairspray and hair coloring.

I've also learned you don't tell someone in Alabama that you really can't tell the difference between the Southern accent and a Texan accent. (That goes either way I guess.) In fact, I guess that there is a difference in accents between a person in Alabama, and a person in Mississippi.

However, people are WAY nicer here than in the West.

Scottsboro...your about 30-45 minutes away from me. You are right on the Tennessee River...you are correct...alot of fishing here. If you are thinking of vacationing, a big resort was just built on Weiss Lake. Cabins, playgrounds, swimming (of course), and I think they rent Jet Skis...looks fun from the road. Weiss is about 1hr from Scottsboro, towards Georgia.

I have family in Denver. Welcome to BAMA country

Thanks!

Colorado has a few creeks compared to the Tennessee. The headwaters for the Arkansas and Colorado river start there, but they are tiny in comparison to what's here in Alabama. Flying over the Mississippi, Missouri, and a few other rivers on the way here was really cool. I saw so many lakes from the air and I wish I could spend a few days on each.

I wish that I had more time to stay on this trip. Our class gets over early on Thursday, and I'm hoping that I can go to that NASA museum over in Huntsville. The rocket is cool, but I saw that SR-71 sitting there and just about wet myself. As an ex-turbine mechanic, that Ram-Jet supersonic bird is the bomb! I would love to just once take a flight in one of those bad boys. Skunk Works would be my first choice if I could work anywhere in the U.S.A., but my current job is pretty cool too. It at least allows plenty of time for fishing having 3 days off every week!

Come on Springtime in the Rockies!

And one last thought. The reason your seeing so much fishing is lake Guntersville (25 minutes down the road) is the 3rd best bass fishing lake in the country.
