2nd Job
I've got 2 jobs right now... one as a Assistant Network Admin, and a 2nd job as a MIS Help Desk Tech... and I go to college full time.
This entire summer I'm working some insane hours... at least I'll have tons of cash floating around.
Heck, I remember a few months ago, I was in need of a job, now I got a 2nd job, that is paying 2x as much as my first job.. and I'm still working my 1st job and going to college.
All this money means... one thing... more mods.

my regular job feels like 3 jobs at times.Directional bore rig and excavator operator.Used to run concrete pumps and tower cranes downtown Chicago but I got burned out from working 14 hour minimum days.
My second job (or is it my first?) is as a father to a two-year-old. I don't recommend this profession to you, as the hours are long and the pay is horsesh*t.......

I'm in the Army. Alot of junior enlisted soldiers usually with kids work at local places in close towns. Usually places like Wal-mart, mcdonalds, etc. Usually from like 6-11 on nights and every weekend if training schedule permits. I have a few buddies who do this. Army pays for their rent/medical/ and most bills, extra job picks up on the extra car note.
From 2000 - 2006 I had a full time job as a heavy duty mechanic and at night I would do oil/gas well testing reports. I could get a report done and emailed in less than an hour. Two reports a night (100.00 a pop) and I made almost as much as at my 8 hour day job. Only problem was it wasn't steady work you could count on. Some months the wife and I would only do 10-12 reports then some months it would be 20+ and working until all hours of the night. I also fixed computers on the side for guys I worked with but seldom charged them very much. The reports thing was a good side job and brought in lots of extra cash to buy toys with. Moved to the country in 2006 and now I have one day job as a heavy duty mechanic. I have no desire to work a second job anymore. My off time is now for home and fishing. The wife didn't go back to work after moving out here so now she's a full time housewife. We don't even miss the extra money from her job and our side job. (She used to make more than me). We've decided to just take it easy and enjoy life now.

The faster/harder/smarter you work, the more you make per hour.
I've never really worked two jobs exept for a couple of brief periods. I've always managed to just find one job that gives me more hours, or pays enough to not need a second.
I do not have a second job exactly, but I have several clients whom I do their tax return as well as advise during the year.

I don't have a second job "per sey" however my present job allows me the flexibility of plenty of overtime. My regular shift is from 7am-3pm, many times I work an additional shift of either 3pm-11pm., or 11pm-7am-that one sucks!
Even on my regular two days off a week I can work OT! Sometimes the OT is mandatory with no choice other than suspension! Sometimes I've had over 50Hrs OT in a payperiod for me is every two weeks. I've gone months without a day off sometimes, however that was my choice. After a point with OT you are just working for Uncle Sam., & paying for all of the Illegals who get free housing & healthcare here.......Who's the sucker in this picture!.....

I had looked into a 2nd job about a month ago. I live near an airport and there was some openings for loading\unloading luggage for some of the major carriers. There was also some openings at the Fedex and UPS hubs. Working jobs like that wouldn't require much in the thought\problem solving area and there wouldn't be customer service related work, either. To me, that would be the perfect 2nd\part time job to get a lil extra cash.
I also live near a major shipping port. I applied for a job that involved unloading new cars from the ships that came in from over seas. Unfortunately, that job was not part time, only full time, so I couldn't do it. I would also check out warehouse type of stores like Walmart, Homedepot, Lowes, etc...
Luckily for me, I ended up getting a promotion at my full time job so getting a 2nd job isn't needed at the moment. I think with the way cost of living is far exceeding average salaries these days, many will be seeking part time jobs. My recommendation would be to get a 2nd job that isn't so mentally draining as it may affect your full time job. For me, getting a more physically demanding part time job was fine since I'm still fairly young and in good shape.

Yea, I'm probably going to be looking for a second job when I get back to the DFW area. I'll be looking for a primary job first, but until we get on our feet and find a place to live, we'll be staying at the mother in law's house. Not only do I want to get out as fast as possible, I'll probably not want to spend a lot of time there either.
Haven't thought much about what I'd do though yet.
