Um, I don't know. I a few months back had to park on a recently plowed street, we got like 25 cm of snow, then it turned kinda warm. I drove right through it, the part where he plowed to, parked and got out no prob. Alot of factors are involved yes, but if this guy knowingly did this, he deserves it. If I had done this, first off pride would roadblock me from bragging on a forum known to have spy guests, 1, and to take pictures of it. C'mon guy, lie and say damn thing lost control a bit and hit a big snow bank. I don't think his puny tires had given much help either.

How is this? I figured a wider all terrain tire would be really good for snow. We don't get much snow in Arkansas

Its like a snow shoe the wider the contact the easer it is for the tire to float on top of the snow rather than cut though it

my 305's suck in the snow but in my Z71 the 275's cut right though the snow

Yup, as 01lightingsuper said, wider tires don't bite as well.

I have 275/70/17's. They're a little wider and beafier than stock, but they're still a good performer all around.

So I've heard, but the type they are look like a glorified rain tire. I've been lucky I suppose, the Goodyear AT/S' I've had in 265/70/17's worked well, especially in snow, but the 285's seem better still.

That huge walrus front end probably dug into the snow like a bulldozer, the bush guard not helping either. I think the tire size matters if all other circumstances are alike. Who knows, probably didn't have limited slip or nothing either.

I thought they mentioned Revo's in that thread, but I could be mistaken. If so, Revo's are supposed to be a good AT tire.

All I know is, I dumped my 255/70/17 P-rated General Americraps with next to no mileage on them for a set of 275/70/17 Firestone Destination AT's. I've been putting them to good use this season! They've been a world of difference from the stockers.

The pic in my sig shows the stock Americraps. They did the job, but not as well as the tires I have now.

Are the 285's you have now the same make and model as the 265's you had?

Pretty much the same, wrangler AT/S' then and Wrangler Silent Armors now so basically the same tread design. You get mixed reviews from people, they go from skinnier crap tires to wider good tires and it seems the wider the better. In theory that I've never been able to compare by that much, wider would get less traction. My dads 08 dually heads sideways alot. Still does the job, that 6.4 can go though

Do you ever get MIXED reviews! Check out the difference between the Silent Armors and the AT'S here:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey....jsp?type=ORAT

The AT/S is almost at the bottom of the list. Notice where the Americraps are?

I realize these reviews are not the end all, but I also believe there's a big difference between the stock AT'S you had compared to the Silent Armors you have now, so it's not really comparing apples to apples, IMO.

Actually, not much difference. I really liked the at/s' but the S Armors now have the 285's, and I've heard they will be phasing the at/s' out making all SA's instead. Even the RT/S' were ok. Me, or my family and friends ever really had problems with tires. My dad had the Firestone's in question, wore them bald. Michelin LTX M/S replaced them, awesome tire. BFG's, mud, a/t's etc, all good. My painter had the Hankook's, crapola big time. Not suited for that truck anyways, 04 s-cab 4x4. I'm starting to see alot more Bridgestone, Firestone etc. tires in a/t series, I gotta say, they look good and I hear good things too. I'm stuck pretty much with the Goodyear's, for what I do, they are the least of my worries.
