Bet the power steering and brake fluid is original, too.

Kinda blows holes in many of the "maintenance theories" floating around here.

Valvoline oil? At a quart every 300 miles, or so, I'd use something less expensive, myself.

When none of the miles are short trip, any decent oil will last quite a while.

Yes, I know that a million miles is almost unheard of on any engine, but do note that it's using oil - that's indicative of wear.

I will say this - if he bought the thing with the idea he'd be putting 100k a year on it, and put a full Amsoil system on it with bypass filters and maintained it per their recommendations, I'd bet that it wouldn't be burning that much oil today. I'd sure do that if I were running a vehicle (that I bought new or close to new) almost every waking hour and wanted to run it till it dropped. Whatever works for you.

When I was driving beaters, I used crap oil and seldom or never changed it - they all died from other causes than lube related engine failures. All I did was add oil as needed and wasn't fussy about what I used.
